Brian Giesler was named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Mount Aloysius on June 21, 2018. He added duties as the Sports Information Director during the summer of 2019.
Giesler led the Mounties to their most successful season during his tenure in 2023-24. They won 13 games and made a trip back to the AMCC Tournament semi-finals, for the first time since 2017-18. Their AMCC First Round victory against Pitt-Greensburg was the program's sixth total AMCC Tournament victory, since becoming eligible for the postseason in 2009. He recruited and coached the AMCC Newcomer of the Year, Molly Kosmack, who was the third Mountie to win the award, and was also named First Team All-AMCC as a freshman. She also won the Defensive Player of the Year award and was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week in January. Kosmack was the first Mountie player to receive either honor.
In 2022-23, Giesler led the Mounties back to the AMCC Tournament, earning the #6 seed with a 4-10 AMCC record. He mentored sophomore Chloe Clemons to earning Third Team All-AMCC, becoming just the first Mountie to be recognized as All-Conference by the AMCC, since Breana Kendrick in 2018-19.
From 2019-20 to 2021-22, Giesler worked on rebuilding the program, as they struggled to just four wins in each season, sandwiched around the pandemic-lost 2020-21 season.
In his first season, Giesler helped propel the Mounties to their fifth consecutive AMCC Tournament appearance. The Mounties were tops in the conference during the regular season in 3 Point Field Goals made. They also led the conference in Points Per Game Allowed and Turnovers Per Game, during AMCC play.
Giesler was previously an assistant coach for the men's basketball program at Mount Aloysius from 2015 to 2018. In the 2017-2018 season, he was a key member of Will Cabrera's coaching staff that saw the Mounties make their first AMCC Tournament appearance since the 2012-2013 season.
He is also currently serving as director of the Keystone State Individual Basketball Camps, for which he has also worked the past six years. While serving as an assistant coach, Giesler has also worked youth camps at Mount Aloysius, Lehigh University and Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
Giesler is a 2015 graduate of Grove City College. While at Grove City he was a two-sport athlete for the Wolverines, serving as a four-member of both the school's basketball and golf teams. He was a team captain for the basketball team his senior year. Giesler holds two program records at Grove City, both for 3-point field goals made. He holds the single season record with 76, and the single game record with 8. He also is 2nd in career three pointers made at the college.
Giesler received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Mount Aloysius in 2017. He also has served as an adjunct faculty member at the college. He currently holds the position of Sports Information Director, in addition to his duties with Women's Basketball.
