Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Mounties Win Big at D'Youville

Buffalo, NY- The Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer team picked up another big win on the road, defeating D'Youville College 6-0. The win was the Mountie's 4th straight victory in which they outscored their opponents by at least 6 goals. They amassed 39 shots in the game and kept 21 of them on target.

Winger Pau Aran started the scoring for the Mounties in the 8th minute of play. Aran ripped a half volley from the edge of the box which flew into the top left corner for the opening goal. The goal was Aran's 4th of the year. After a hard luck start to the season Aran's hard attacking work has paid off as he has scored 4 goals in his last 3 games. The Mounties doubled their lead in the 25th minute. Jonathan Fernandez played a pass to Joshua Devlin. Devlin turned at the top of the box and finished into the corner.

After the halftime break, Devlin would score his second of the day. Devlin took a shot which bounced of one of his teammates and came right back to him. He then chipped the ball over the D'Youville keeper for his 10th goal of the season and his 5th goal in the last two games. The Mounties lead grew to 4 after Joshua Christie forced an own goal in the 57th. He beat his man to the touch line and fired a ball across the box which deflected off a defender and into the net.

A minute later Ludvig Hegdal added to the lead. Hegdal recieved a pass from Domity Dahn at left corner of the 18 yard box, took one touch and whipped a shot to the far corner of the goal for his 6th of the season. Christie finished off the scoring for the Mounties in the 65th minute. Fernandez picked the ball up near the halfway line and played a through ball to the streaking Christie. Christie was alone on the keeper and tucked the shot away for his 5th of the season.

James Eyre made 1 save in the match, picking up his 11th win and 9th shut out of the year.

The Mounties win moves them to 13-1-1 on the year with an AMCC record of 7-0. They are currently on a 13 game winning streak which has seen them outscore opponents 56-3. They will travel to Franciscan University on Wednesday looking to build on their streak.
