Cresson, PA- The Mount Aloysius Volleyball team picked up two wins on Saturday as they traveled to two different colleges on the day. On their first stop, they defeated Clarks Summit 3-1. On their second they defeated Cedar Crest College also by a score of 3-1.
Against Clarks Summit the Mounties fell behind early. They lost a tight first set by a score of 27-25, but were able to fight back and win the next three. Set two was the Mounties most consistent set as they were able to collect 32 kills compared to only 2 errors.Â
Machala Gibbons and
Sarah Fisher led the attack for the Mounties. Gibbons collected 13 kills while Fisher finished just behind with 12 of her own. Gibbons also added in 12 digs defensively.
Jessica Bressler had a strong match setting the ball, as she tallied 32 of the Mounties 48 assists. Both
Emma Pevarnik and
Kylee Clawson had strong games from the service line, collecting 4 aces a piece. Clawson also put in a strong defensive effort as she had 35 digs.
Macy King also pitched in defensively with 3 individual blocks.
After the first, the Mounties traveled further east, to Allentown to take on Cedar Crest. The break in action seemed to affect the Mounties, as they fel in the first set 15-25, while comitting 6 errors compared to 8 kills finsihing with a .045 hitting percentage. After the break, the Mounties came back strong, winning a tight second set 25-22 and dominating the final two sets 25-16 and 25-17. The finished the final three sets with a .273 percentage to help take the match.
Individually, Gibbons and Fisher led the way again as they finished with double digit kills. Gibbons had 18 kills to go along with 21 digs, while Fisher had 13 kills and 3 blocks.
Hannah Cotchen also finished the match with 8 kills.
Jessica Bressler had another big game as she finished with 36 assists, 3 service aces and 19 digs.
Carly Swope put in her third double digit dig performance of the season, finishing with 12.Â
 After a rough start to the season that saw the Mounties lose their first 5 games, they have won 15 out of 18. They are currently on a 10 match winning streak. They will look to extend the streak on Wednesday when they host Pitt-Greensburg starting at 7:00 PM in the ACWC.
