Bradford, PA- The Mount Aloysius Volleyball team traveled to Bradford, Pennsylvania this weekend to play two AMCC in conference matches against Hilbert and Pitt-Bradford. The Mounties defeated Hilbert 3-0 in the first game, then took down the hosts 3-1 in the second.
The Mounties dominated the first match against hilbert, winning the three games 25-9, 25-17 and 25-12. They came out firing in the first game as they hit .500 to jump out to an early lead. The Mounties weren't as efficient in the following two games, but were able to finish with a .263 percentage for the match. They also excelled serving the ball, as they recorded 15 service aces in the match.
Machala Gibbons led the Mounties with 10 kills in the match.
Macy King also had a strong match offensively finishing with 5 kills on 7 attacks, good for a .714 hitting percentage.
Emma Pevarnik led the Mounties in assists for the match tallying 15, while fellow setter
Jessica Bressler finished 1 behind with 14. Pevarnik also led the Mounties with 6 service aces in the match.
Kylee Clawson led the Mounties with 13 digs.
Mount Aloysius then took on the hosts, Pitt-Bradford. The Mounties took the match in four games, winning their sets by an average of just under 10 points. They were not as efficient in the second game, however they were able to limit their attack errors in the deciding two games, committing only 7 combined, while their opponents committed 17. Gibbons led the Mounties in kills againas she recorded 14 kills. She also led the team defensively, as she recorded 21 digs.
Sarah Fisher also reached double digit kills finishing with 10, and Freshman
Ashlee Parrish had the most efficient attacking game finishing with a .273 percentage. Bressler led the second game with 18 assists.
The Mounties (8-8 overall, 2-0 AMCC) will travel to Pittsburgh to take on LaRoche College in more AMCC action on Wednesday Night, beginning at 7:00PM.
