Waynesburg, PA- The Mount Aloysius Volleyball team picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Waynesburg University in straight sets on Saturday.

Set 1 saw the Mounties fall behind early, but a 8 point run with Kylee Clawson serving put the Mounties ahead. Clawson had 5 service aces on the run and put the Mounties up for good as they took the set 25-22. The Mounties jumped out to an early 10-4 lead in game two, and were able keep the lead lat eon winning 25-15. Set three was a tight affair as the Mounties were able to close the match with a 25-23 score. The Mounties scored 5 of the final 6 points of the set to finish off Waynesburg.

Sophomore Machala Gibbons led the Mounties with 8 kills in 26 attempts, and chipped in 9 digs defensively. Sarah Fisher had an efficient match in the middle, finishing with 7 kills and a .583 hitting percentage. Jessica Bressler finished with 14 assists for the Mounties while Emma Pevarnik chipped in 10 herself. Clawson and Pevarnik both had a strong match serving, as they had 10 aces combined, 6 for Clawson and 4 for Pevarnik,

The Mounties return to action on Tuesday, when they host Lancaster Bible College for their first home match of the year.
