Phoenixville, PA -- The Mount Aloysius Volleyball team traveled to the University of Valley Forge on Thursday night, where they left with a 3-0 victory.
They got to the victory by way of hitting .324 on the night and committing only five hitting errors.
The Mounties got out to a big lead in the first set, getting ahead 16-2. They would finish off the set 25-9. In the second set, they also got out to an 11-1, courtesy of four service aces, three fromÂ
Machala Gibbons (Cairnbrook, PA, Bishop McCort) and one from
Abigail Fletcher (Salem, VA, Glenvar). The second set was finished off much like the first, as it finished 25-9, in favor of Mount Aloysius.
The third set started off much tighter than the first two. The Mounties held a slim, 7-5 lead, partway through. However, Mount Aloysius would score 18 of the final 21 points to finish off the Patriots, 25-8.
Macy King (New Bethlehem, PA, Redbank Valley)Â led the Mounties with seven kills, as she hit .545 on the night, with no errors. She also contribute two blocks. Gibbons,
Ava Myers (Gallitzin, PA, Bishop Carroll), andÂ
Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) finished with 18 kills, split evenly, and only committed two total errors between them. Gibbons also added 11 digs and six aces on the night. SeniorÂ
Emma Pevarnik (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield) picked up 22 assists and four aces.
The Mounties will take mid-season break, as they will wait to return to action until Saturday, October 19. On the 19th, they will host an AMCC tri-match, with Alfred State and Franciscan coming to Cresson. The action will start at 1:00 PM.
