Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Mounties Shut Out Pioneers on Senior Day

Cresson -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer team hosted the Alfred State Pioneers on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, the Mounties recognized their seniors, Domity Dahn (Reston, VA, South Lakes), Joshua Devlin (Southend-on-Sea, England, Seevic College), James Eyre (West Bilney, England, Nicholas Hamond Academy), and Student Assistant, Conor Woods. Following their recognition, the Mounties defeated the Pioneers, 3-0.

Mount Aloysius dominated their opponent for most of the game on both sides of the ball. They only allowed Alfred State to attempt four shots, one of which was on goal and saved by Eyre. On the offensive side, the Mounties attempted 18 shots, with eight landing on goal, and three finding their way past the keeper.

The first goal of the game came from Devlin, as one of his two goals on the day, late in the first half. He found his way to the ball via a save by the Pioneer keeper. Devlin put the rebound into the net for the score. The game headed to halftime, 1-0 Mounties.

In the 61st minute, Pau Aran (Barcelona, Spain, Colegio Inglés Playa del Carmen) found Devlin for his second goal of the day, with a great through ball. Devlin's goal gave him 17 on the season, extending his program record and putting him at the top of the AMCC leaderboard. Medaille's Mitchell Ali has 16 goals in 2019.

With just under five minutes remaining, Anton Hoshovsky (Canberra, Australia, Radford College) hit Aran with a pass, where Aran was able to score his seventh goal of the season. The goal put an exclamation point on the 3-0 Senior Day win for Mount Aloysius.

The Mounties will face off against Franciscan on Tuesday in the 2019 regular season finale, with playoff seeding implications on the line. Mount Aloysius is currently 7-2 in AMCC play, while Franciscan is 7-1-1. The winner of Tuesday's will likely be the number three seed in the AMCC Tournament, while the loser ends up as the fourth seed. Neither team can finish lower than fourth, following the results of today's games.
