Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Dominates Hilbert

Cresson -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer team showed off a dominating performance on Saturday afternoon, as they beat visiting Hilbert, 9-0.

The Mounties opened up the scoring early into the game, when a corner kick by Nick Anagnostiadis (Sydney, Australia, St. Patrick's College) ended up being redirected by James Maddison (Trimdon, England, Moulton College). Pau Aran (Barcelona, Spain, Colegio Inglés Playa del Carmen) was able to finish it off to give them a 1-0 lead.

Mount Aloysius was able to put two more on the board in the first half, as Maddison (assisted by Aran) and Rhett Pletcher (Rockwood, PA, Rockwood) scored. Pletcher's was a header from a corner kick delivered by Anagnostiadis.

The scoring from the Mounties picked up in the second half, as they exploded for six scores. Linus Westberg (Malmo, Sweden, Sundsgymnasiet) scored his fourth goal of the year, in the 55th minute. Ryan Peddle (Tauranga, New Zealand, Tauranga Boys' College) and Logan Walerysiak (Johnstown, PA, Conemaugh Township) would score their first career goals, while Walerysiak would actually score twice in the half. Colby Snyder (Hagerstown, MD, Washington County Technical) also added two goals in the half, to bring his season total to three. Michael Boyle (Woolwich Township, NJ, Kingsway) assisted on four of the nine goals on the day, off the bench.

The nine goals are a season-high for Mount Aloysius. It is their highest total since last season's matchup against Hilbert, where they won 12-0.

The Mounties improved to 3-1 in the AMCC. They will get a mid-week off day from AMCC, when they return to action against Bethany (WV) on Wednesday. They will travel to D'Youville next Saturday, when they look to keep add to their three game AMCC win streak.
