Cresson -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer team earned a commanding victory on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the AMCC Tournament. They defeated the #6 seed, Pitt-Bradford, 4-1.
Joshua Devlin (Southend-on-Sea, England, Seevic College)Â scored his team-leading 18th goal of the season in the 14th minute to put the Mounties ahead, 1-0. They continued to up put the pressure on the Panthers for the rest of the game.
The Mounties attempted 25 shots in the game, with 14 of them being on goal. In contrast, they limited UPB to 4 total shots.Â
James Eyre (West Bilney, England, Nicholas Hamond Academy) finished with three saves and got the win, in goal, for Mount Aloysius.
Devlin was able to assist on the Mounties' second goal of the half, as he foundÂ
Linus Westberg (Malmo, Sweden, Sundsgymnasiet) for the score. Westberg's goal came with roughly three and a half minutes remaining in the half, giving a 2-0 advantage at the break.
While the Panthers would score first in the second half, to cut the deficit to 2-1, Mount Aloysius would add two more to their total. Westberg was able to score his second goal of the day, this time assisted by
Pau Aran (Barcelona, Spain, Colegio Inglés Playa del Carmen), with just under 20 minutes remaining in regulation.

James Maddison (Trimdon, England, Moulton College) would put the final goal into the net, when he took a pass from
Joshua Christie (Aberdeen, Scotland, Hazlehead Academy). The fourth goal was the dagger, as it gave the Mounties a three goal edge.
The Mounties victory moves them into the AMCC Semi-Final round, to be played on Wednesday. They move on to face second-seeded, Penn State Behrend, at 2:00 PM. Penn State Behrend won a closely contested game in the last matchup between the teams, back on September 21, 1-0. Mount Aloysius looks to advance to their first AMCC Championship Game appearance since 2015.
