Cresson -- The Mount Aloysius Volleyball team played host to Medaille on Saturday afternoon. They also recognized outstanding faculty and the graduating seniors.
Kylee Clawson (Altoona, PA, Altoona),
Emma Pevarnik (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield),
Carly Swope (Big Cove Tannery, PA, Mcconnellsburg), and
Andrea Wallack (Altoona, PA, Altoona), were all recognized prior to the start of the game.
The Mounties dominated the Mavericks en route to a program record, 18th win of the season. Mount Aloysius registered 52 kills for the contest and hit a blistering .325 to take down their opponent.
In set one, the Mounties took an early 8-3 lead and never looked back. They tallied 19 of their 25 points via the kill, in the set.
Set number two was much closer as the Mavericks held a 13-12 lead, midway through. However, Mount Aloysius would score eight straight points, to go ahead 20-13. Medaille would try to fight back, but the Mounties held on to win 25-18, going ahead two sets to zero.
The third and final set started with 4-1, in favor of Medaille. The Mounties flipped the score again, as they scored 11 of the next 13 points. They would hold on and extend their lead as they earned 16 kills and only committed 3 errors, hitting .371.
Mount Aloysius had plenty to be happy about in the box score.Â
Machala Gibbons (Cairnbrook, PA, Bishop McCort) led with a double-double, with 14 kills and 21 digs.Â
Ava Myers (Gallitzin, PA, Bishop Carroll) also added 10 kills, as she hit .471 for the game.Â
Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) andÂ
Macy King (New Bethlehem, PA, Redbank Valley) had 9 and 8 kills, respectively. Clawson had a game-high 26 digs to lead Mount Aloysius and Pevarnik's assist total of 46 was also a game-high.
With the win, the Mounties also clinched the second seed in the AMCC Tournament, with help from Pitt-Bradford. They will play next Saturday, against an opponent, to be determined on Wednesday.
