Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Mounties End Rough Patch, Beat Juniata

HUNTINGDON -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer team traveled to nearby Juniata on Wednesday. Following a tightly played first half, the Mounties were able to put in three markers to come away with the victory.

Mount Aloysius was able to put five shots on goal in the first half, but could not get the ball past the Eagle's goalkeeper, as the first half ended in a draw.

The second half saw all six of the Mounties shots be on target, with three finding the back of the net. In the 58th minute, Sophomore Joshua Christie (Aberdeen, Scotland, Hazlehead Academy) scored his first goal of the season, to put the Mounties up 1-0. As the half progressed, Juniata tested Mountie goalkeeper, Tucker Hays (Watsontown, PA, Warrior Run), who made a couple key saves, that kept the difference at one goal.

In the 86th minute, Luke Bicanic (Brisbane, Australia, John Paul College) found fellow Freshman Michael Boyle (Woolwich Township, NJ, Kingsway) for his first career goal. Boyle's goal pushed the lead to 2-0. Approximately a minute later, Sophomore Colby Snyder (Hagerstown, MD, Washington County Technical) netted his first goal of the 2019 campaign to push the lead to three.

Hays would make one more save in the final 3 minutes to preserve the shutout. It was Hays' first collegiate shutout. He made five saves over the course of the 90 minutes.

Boyle, Christie, and Snyder, all scored their first goals of the season. The assist by Bicanic was his first career assist, he scored his first goal in the season-opening win at Saint Vincent.

The Mounties got back in the win column and moved their overall record to 2-3 on the season, with four of their five games being on the road. They will continue to be on the road, Saturday, when they travel to Waynesburg to take on the Yellow Jackets. Waynesburg is currently 2-2 on the season, with a game taking place, late Wednesday night, at Muskingum.
