WAYNESBURG -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer team ended a four game stretch on the road, with a 2-1 victory against Waynesburg on Saturday afternoon.
The Mounties were able to secure a come-from-behind victory, after being down 1-0 at halftime.
In the 17th minute, Waynesburg scored the first goal of the game, when Nate Kummer scored past the Mountie goalie. Mount Aloysius controlled the majority of the first half, putting six shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Yellow Jackets only put three shots on goal during the half.
The second half started off very slowly on both sides, with the Mounties taking two shots and two corner kicks, with no results. In the 60th minute, SophomoreÂ
Pau Aran (Barcelona, Spain, Colegio Inglés Playa del Carmen) was able to get Mount Aloysius on the scoreboard with his third goal of the season. With 30 minutes to play, the game was even once again.
With the game still tied, Waynesburg took two corner kicks and Mount Aloysius took one, but neither team got a shot on goal. With less than eight minutes on the clock, SophomoreÂ
Joshua Christie (Aberdeen, Scotland, Hazlehead Academy) found FreshmanÂ
Linus Westberg (Malmo, Sweden, Sundsgymnasiet) for his first career goal. Westberg's goal gave the Mounties a 2-1 advantage.
In the final minutes of the game, Waynesburg would attempt three shots, with only one landing on goal. GoalkeeperÂ
Tucker Hays (Watsontown, PA, Warrior Run) made three saves on the day, that earned him his third victory in goal on the season.
The Mounties will go for their third victory in a row on Tuesday, when they host Thiel College at 5 PM. They have won the last four meetings against Thiel.
