Devlin's Hat Trick Lifts Mounties over Panthers

CRESSON -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer team won their second consecutive game on Saturday, as they bested Pitt-Bradford, 4-3. Senior Joshua Devlin (Southend-on-Sea, England, Seevic College) scored three goals in the game, to lead the Mounties.

Pitt-Bradford scored broke the seal first, as Spencer Sklar found the back of the net. The goal would give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

Devlin would score his first goal of the game with just under 13 minutes to go in the first half.  registered the assist on Devlin's goal. On the goal, the Mounties tied the game 1-1.

With about four minutes to go in the half, the Panthers committed a foul in the box, that ended in resulting yellow cards. Devlin scored his second goal on the penalty kick that followed to put the Mounties ahead 2-1, heading into the half.

In the 59th minute, Devlin found Sophomore Lachie Back (Gordon, Australia, St. Piux X College) at the top of the box where he put a shot into the back of the net, for his first goal of the season. Back's goal put the Mounties ahead 3-1.

Less than two minutes later, Mount Aloysius found themselves tied, once again, 3-3. Pitt-Bradford scored two quick goals to even the score. They scored one off a breakaway and another thanks to a header succeeding a long throw-in.

The scoring would pause for a bit, as the score stayed tied at 3. However, with just over seven minutes left to play, Devlin found the goal for the third time, as he scored off a free kick. Devlin ended the game with eight goals on the season.

The Mounties outshot the Panthers 27-5 on the game, and owned most of the areas in the box score.

The win was Mount Aloysius' sixth victory of the season, and first AMCC victory. They improved to 1-1 in conference on the year. The Mounties will return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on La Roche, at 2 PM.
