Cresson -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball team hosted reigning AMCC Champion, Hilbert, on Saturday afternoon, in the Athletic Convocation and Wellness Center. Following a
Lea Sammarco (Patton, PA, Bishop Carroll) three to tie the game at 64, the Hawks made a layup at the buzzer, to down the Mounties, 66-64.
Leaders
- Sammarco had a team-high 17 points, in part thanks to, five, three point field goals.

Hannah Kitko (Houtzdale, PA, Moshannon Valley) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, all on the defensive end.

Carly Stigers (Beaverdale, PA, Forest Hills) registered a game-high six assists to lead Mount Aloysius in that category.
- Emily Gawlak scored a game-high 23 points for Hilbert. Macy Kisner added 11 rebounds to lead the Hawks in that category, while Taylor Corts picked up four assists.
How It Happened
- Hilbert got out to a quick start, leading by as many as eight in the first quarter, before an
Emma Kitko (Houtzdale, PA, Moshannon Valley) runner in the lane cut the lead to six right before the buzzer.
- Following a Demi Battin three point field goal for Hilbert, that gave them a 22-13 lead, Mount Aloysius would start to find their scoring.

Hannah Kitko and Sammarco would knock down consecutive threes. Layups by
Ryanna Hockenos (Ashville, PA, Penn Cambria) and
Macy King (New Bethlehem, PA, Redbank Valley) also fueled the comeback.
Zoé Harding (Garrett, PA, Berlin-Brothersvalley) added five points on a three and two free throws, while
Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) added two from the stripe.
- An offensive rebound and putback by Hilbert, right before the half ended, gave the Hawks a 33-31 lead heading into the break.
- The Mounties came out of the break, on fire. Five of their first six baskets were three pointers. Sammarco and Walls both added two, while Stigers hit, as well. Hockenos added a jumper into the mix, as well. The run put the mounties up, 48-40.
- Hilbert would close the quarter with a 6-2 run, leaving the Mounties up four, heading to the final period.
- In the fourth quarter, Mount Aloysius would lead by as many as seven, with just under five minutes to go. The Hawks responded with a 9-0 run, to take a two point lead.
- Kisner put Hilbert up three, with 29 seconds to go, with two free throws. Hockenos responded with a two at the other end.
- After fouling Corts, the Mounties were down three, with less than ten seconds to play. Sammarco hit a three to tie the game, off a pass from
Emma Kitko. That shot left roughly four seconds to go. Hilbert advanced the ball, and on the insuing inbounds play, Ashley Repine drove to the basket producing a layup at the buzzer.

- The Mounties tied their season high in three point field goals made, with 11. Their 11-15 performance was their best shooting percentage of the year from deep.
- Mount Aloysius also shot 52% for the game from the field, including 68% in the middle two quarters (13-19).
- Hilbert won the turnover battle, as they turned it over 16 times, while forcing 22 Mountie hiccups.
- The Mounties went 11-12 from the free throw line for the game. This also marked their season-high in free throw percentage.
