Cresson -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball team picked up a much needed AMCC victory on Saturday afternoon, as they defeated Pitt-Bradford. 59-48. The win snapped the Mounties 7-game losing streak.

Carly Stigers (Beaverdale, PA, Forest Hills) set her career-high with 17 points to lead the Mountie scoring attack. She also added five rebounds and three steals.

Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) scored ten points for the Mounties. She led Mount Aloysius with five steals and three assists.
- SeniorÂ
Lea Sammarco (Patton, PA, Bishop Carroll) also grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Sammarco also hit two of the five Mountie three point field goals on the day.
- Shirleah Ragin led the Panthers with 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius scored the first four points of the game through just under five minutes. The Panthers would go on a 12-0 run before a Stigers three pointer before the end of the quarter cut the lead to 12-7.
- Back to back threes by Walls and Stigers put the Mounties back ahead to open up the second quarter.
- UPB would score four points to put themselves back up by three. However, the Mounties would go on a 13-4 run to finish off the period, putting them ahead, 26-20, heading into the half.
- Sammarco would open up the third quarter with a three, making it 29-20, Mounties. The Panthers were able to score the next eight points to cut the lead to 29-28.
- The teams traded baskets, keeping the score at 31-30. Prior to a Ragin jumper at the end of the quarter, Mount Aloysius went on a 8-0 run. The Mounties led the Panthers 39-32 heading into the final period.
- The fourth quarter saw plenty of action, but the Mounties would not relinquish the lead. UPB cut the lead to four on the first possession of the quarter, on a Shaelyn Snipes three pointer.
- Mount Aloysius pushed the lead to ten before the Panthers would eventually cut it to three, with just over three minutes to go, on a Ragin three pointer.
- The Mounties were able to ice the lead with a Walls floater and eight consecutive made free throws, by four different players. The last two made by Walls, as well.
Into the Box Score
- Both teams struggled shooting from the floor, with the Panthers shooting 29% and the Mounties shooting 28%.
- Mount Aloysius made five three pointers, compared to four makes by the Panthers, despite taking 21 attempts.
- The Mounties were also outrebounded by 20 throughout the game, 49-29.
- During the fourth quarter, the Mounties made an incredible 18 free throws on 18 attempts. They finished the game 24-28 from the line.
- Mount Aloysius picked up a season-high, 14 steals in the game. including five by Walls.

- The Mounties get back in action on Monday afternoon in the ACWC, when they take on Medaille. The game will be at approximately, 4 PM, following the Men's game.
- Medaille is coming off their first win of the season, on Wednesday. The Mounties beat the Mavericks earlier this season, 69-64, in Buffalo.
