Cresson -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Basketball team played host to Medaille on Monday afternoon, as part of a Martin Luther King Day doubleheader. The Mounties bested the Mavericks 70-62.

Nate Christian (Accokeek,MD, Surratsville) led the Mounties with 22 points, on 6-11 shooting and an 8-13 effort from the free throw line.

Carlos Palacio (Bilbao, Spain, Phelps School) grabbed a game-high ten rebounds, to go along with his 18 points.

Julian Stover (Washington, DC, Richard Montgomery) was the third and final Mountie in double-figures with 11. He also contributed a game-high three steals.
- Kendall McGill led the Mavericks with 21 points and three assists. Rodney Graves grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
How It Happened
- Medaille opened up the game getting out to an 8-4 lead through the first five minutes. Graves and Jonathan Smith each had two baskets.
- The Mounties would get themselves back on track as Palacio and Stover made three point field goals, that sandwiched 12 straight points scored by Christian. Following the Stover three, the Mounties held a 25-18 lead.
- Both teams traded baskets over the final six or so minutes of the first half. A
Trent McErlane (Greenville, PA, Greenville) three pointer put the Mounties up seven, but the Mavericks were able to score the final four points of the half, to trail at the break, 33-30.
- Any momentum the Mavericks had going into the half evaporated coming out of the locker rooms. Mount Aloysius scored the first 13 points of the period to open up a 46-30 lead.
- The Mountie lead was between 12 and 17 points for the majority of the half, as they traded baskets most of the way. A McGill jumper for Medaille cut the lead to eight with approximately 30 seconds to go.

- Mount Aloysius shot 44.7% from the field for the game, compared to only 38% from their opponents. The Mounties also outshot their opponents from distance, as they went 9-20 (45%) while Medaille was 5-31 (16.1%).
- The Mounties also made up some ground at the free throw line, where they shot over twice as many free throws as Medaille. They went 19-27 while Medaille was 9-13.

- The Mounties improved to 9-7 overall with the win. They also improved to 6-5 in AMCC play. Medaille fell to 5-6 in AMCC competition.
- Mount Aloysius gets a much needed break this week, as they do not get back to action until Saturday. At 2 PM, they will host Penn State Behrend in the ACWC.
- Penn State Behrend is currently 10-5 overall and 7-3 in conference. They are coming off a loss to Penn State Altoona on Saturday.
