Buffalo, NY -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Basketball team traveled to D'Youville on Saturday afternoon, for their regular season finale. They beat the Spartans, 80-72, securing their AMCC Tournament spot.

Leaders
- Nate Christian (Accokeek,MD, Surratsville) led the Mounties with 25 points, thanks in large part to his 13-14 performance from the free throw line. He also led the Mounties in rebounding, grabbing 11 boards, and producing the team's only double-double.
- Azim Hutson (Orlando, FL, Ocoee) added 24 points going 8-14 from the field, in 35 minutes.
- Imil Britt (Johnstown, PA, Greater Johnstown) dished out a game-high three assists.
- Wanya Bruce led the Spartans with 21 points and three assists. Juan Miguel Rosales grabbed 10 boards.

How It Happened
- D'Youville jumped on the Mounties early, as they scored the first nine points of the game. Hutson scored the first basket for Mount Aloysius, just over five minutes in.
- Over the next five minutes, the Mounties outscored the Spartans, 11-6, with seven points produced by Hutson, including his only three pointer of the game, on his lone attempt.
- Without relinquishing the lead, D'Youville was able to push the lead back up as high as eight, 28-20.
- Mount Aloysius cut the lead back to two, with just over a minute remaining in the first half, on a jumper by Hutson. They would get outscored 5-2 over the final minute, putting the halftime score at 35-30, D'Youville.
- Into the second half, the teams came out playing fairly even basketball. The Spartan lead stayed between two points and six points in the first five minutes, until a Christian three-pointer gave the Mounties a one-point lead, 45-44.
- Both teams would trade the lead, back and forth. Mount Aloysius got the lead to seven, 59-52, before nine straight points from the Spartans saw the lead evaporate. The Mounties then responded with their own 9-0 run, getting the lead back to seven, with 2:22 to play.
- In the closing minutes, D'Youville was only able to get as close as five points, before falling 80-72.

Into the Box Score
- Mount Aloysius outscored the Spartans, at the free throw line, by 20 points for the game. The Mounties went 32-42 (76.2%) while the Spartans were 12-20 (60%).
- The Mounties also won the rebound battle, 39-33. Each team grabbed eight offensive rebounds.
- Christian and Hutson combined for 49 of the Mounties' 80 points (61.3%). Only four other players scored for Mount Aloysius, accounting for the other 31 points.
- D'Youville won the turnover battle, only committing 11 miscues, while the Mounties committed 14.

Up Next
- The Mounties wrapped up the regular season, 14-11 overall and 11-9 in AMCC play. The performance landed them a spot in the AMCC Postseason Tournament.
- Mount Aloysius earned the #6 Seed, by way of a tie-breaker loss to Hilbert and Penn State Altoona. Both teams finished 11-9 in conference play, as well.
- The AMCC Tournament begins play on Tuesday, with Mount Aloysius traveling to play #3 Seed, Penn State Behrend, at 7 PM.
- The Mounties fell both times this season to the Lions. The first meeting was a 79-68 setback, back in December. In the second meeting, the Mounties took the Lions to overtime, tied at 51, before falling 66-55, at home.
- An AMCC semi-final berth is on the line, Tuesday. The winner of Tuesday's game will move on to play, #2 Seed, Pitt-Greensburg, on Friday at La Roche. The semi-final and final rounds, will all be hosted at La Roche, taking place on Friday and Saturday.
