Cresson -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball played host to Alfred State on Saturday afternoon. It was the second meeting of the season, between the two teams. The Mounties fell behind in the first quarter, but were unable to mount a full comeback before falling, 84-70.

Carly Stigers (Beaverdale, PA, Forest Hills) led the Mounties with 21 points, including a 3-6 perfomance from three-point range.

Lea Sammarco (Patton, PA, Bishop Carroll) each had 16 points, while Sammarco registered a team-high, four assists.

Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) each grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
- Jordyn Pettit led the Pioneers with 26 points and 13 rebounds, both game-highs. Rayanna Anderson registered a game-high six assists, to go with her 16 points.
How It Happened
- The Mounties got out to an early lead, being up four, two separate times, through the first five minutes. The Pioneers countered, however, going on a 15-3 run to close out the first quarter.
- In the second quarter, the Mounties were again outscored, this time, 19-13. The Pioneer lead was in double-digits most of the period.
- Mount Aloysius was able to cut the lead to single-digits in the third quarter, behind great play from their young players. Hockenos scored 10 of her 16 points in the period, including six of the team's first eight. Stigers added five points in the period, as well.
- With just over eight minutes to go in the game, Stigers hit a three, her third of the game, to cut the Pioneer lead to four (59-55).
- Alfred State responded with a 13-3 run, over the next three minutes, making it a 14 point game. The Mounties were unable to recover, as they played even the rest of the game.
Into the Box Score
- Mount Aloysius shot 40% for the game, but gave up 49% shooting to the visitors.
- The Mounties were also out-rebounded by seven, despite having 11 offensive rebounds on the day, including four alone, from King.
- Mount Aloysius also won the battle of assists and turnovers. The Mounties turned it over 17 times, while ASC turned it over 20 times. It was also 14-13 in the assists category.

- Mount Aloysius will travel to Franciscan on Wednesday evening, to take on the Barons. Franciscan is currently on a three-game win streak, all of which have been in Steubenville.
