Steubenville, Oh. -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball team traveled to Franciscan, on Wednesday night. After holding the lead at the half, they fell behind in the third quarter and were unable to overcome the run, by a 62-50 score.

Zoé Harding (Garrett, PA, Berlin-Brothersvalley) led the Mounties, tying a career-high, with 19 points. She was 5-11 from the field, including three of the team's five, three point field goals. She also had a team-high three steals.

Lea Sammarco (Patton, PA, Bishop Carroll) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.Â
Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) added six rebounds and six assists.
- Abby Baierl led the Barons with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Estelle Leon also had a double-double, with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
How it Happened
- The first quarter saw only six made baskets, including a lone free throw. Franciscan led at the end of the period, 6-5. The teams shot a combined 5-30 in the quarter.
- In the second segment, the scoring opened up a bit. AÂ
Carly Stigers (Beaverdale, PA, Forest Hills) three pointer tied the game at 10, with just three minutes gone. That was followed by four consecutive points for the Barons. The Mounties countered with four of their own, to tie the game again at 14, with just over five minutes to go in the half.
- Rose Judge made a layup for the Barons to go up by two, with 4:55 left in the quarter. Mount Aloysius was able to score the final eight points of the half, which was capped by a Harding three pointer, to take a 22-16 lead into the break.
- The Barons opened up the scoring in the third quarter and slowly get themselves into a great position. They outscored the Mounties, 23-12, in the period to go up five.
- The fourth quarter saw the Mounties struggle to get the game into a single-digit deficit. They got as close as seven points, with just over six minutes remaining.
Into the Box Score
- The Mounties outshot their opponents, as they shot 37% for the game and held the Barons to 32%. However, they were beat on the glass, 47-30.
- Franciscan also won the battle at the free throw line, going 14-18 for the game. Mount Aloysius went 7-14.
- Mount Aloysius did win the bench battle, seeing 26 of their 50 points come off the bench, compared to only four Baron bench points.
