Steubenville, Oh. -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Basketball team traveled to Franciscan on Wednesday evening, where they defeated the Barons, 74-60, behind four, double-digit scorers.

Julian Stover (Washington, DC, Richard Montgomery) led the Mounties in scoring with 21 points, thanks to a 14-16 shooting performance from the free throw line. He also picked up a team-high, three steals.

Carlos Palacio (Bilbao, Spain, Phelps School) grabbed a team-high, 13 rebounds, to lead Mount Aloysius, in addition to scoring 18 points on 7-13 shooting. Palacio also blocked a game-high five shots.

Nate Christian (Accokeek,MD, Surratsville) dished out a team-high, three assists, and posted a 17-point performance scoring.
- Drazen Frankovitch led Franciscan with 17 points and nine rebounds. Matt Trent grabbed a game-high 17 boards, to go with ten points.
How it Happened
- Franciscan jumped out to the first lead of the game, as they scored on their first possession. Both teams would trade baskets over the first couple minutes, as the game was tied 7-7.
- Palacio hit a three pointer for Mount Aloysius at the 15:55 mark, which would give the Mounties the lead, which they would keep for the duration.
- The Mounties picked up their biggest lead of the first half, on a Christian layup with just under five minutes remaining. The layup put them up 27-17.
- Franciscan was able to cut into the lead, outscoring the Mounties 6-2 over the final five minutes. The score was 29-23, at the break.
- After the Barons scored the first basket of the second half, the Mounties went on a 10-2 run to push their lead to 12. They continued to pour it on stretching the lead to 21, just over midway through the half, on a Stover three-point field goal. They 21-point lead was the biggest of the game for Mount Aloysius.
- Franciscan was only able to cut the lead to 11, as the Mounties kept the game in double-digits, all the way til the end. In the final minute, the Mounties hit eight consecutive free throws, to ice the game, including four from Stover.
Into the Box Score
- Following an 0-5 first half, from the free throw line, the Mounties were 25-34 in the second half (73.5%). Their 25 made free throws accounted for 56% of their points scored in the period.
- The Mounties also provided stifling defense, holding the hosts to 32.8% shooting and making only three of their 18 three point attempts.
- Despite winning the game and shooting a higher percentage, Mount Aloysius was beaten on the boards, 45-31, for the game. 17 of the Barons rebounds were on the offensive end.
- Mount Aloysius scored 74 points, but only had six players in the scoring column. Four of them reached double-digits, led by Stover.Â
Imil Britt (Johnstown, PA, Greater Johnstown) contributed the only two points off the bench for the Mounties.
Up Next
- Mount Aloysius improved to 11-9 overall and 8-7 in AMCC play. They are currently 7-3 since the beginning of 2020.
- On Saturday, they will travel to Buffalo to take on Hilbert, at 1 PM. Hilbert is 13-7 on the year, with a 9-6 conference record.
- The Mounties won their last meeting with Hilbert, in Cresson, 91-76, back on January 11th.
