Winchester, Va. -- The Mount Aloysius Baseball team finished up their weekend, on Sunday, with a single, nine-inning game at Shenandoah. The Mounties fell to 4-1 on the season, after suffering a 19-4 defeat.
The Rundown
- After a scoreless top half of the inning for Mount Aloysius, the first Hornet run came across to score in the bottom half. Mountie starter,
Seth Smith (Mapelton Depot, PA, Mount Union), did not allow a hit in the frame, but a leadoff walk came around to score.
- The Mounties were held hitless through the first three frames, with the Hornets still leading 1-0. In the bottom of the third, Shenandoah loaded the bases without a hit. They scored three runs total in the inning, on only one hit. The single up the middle drove in two of the three runs, giving the Hornets a 4-0 lead.
- Mount Aloysius answered in the top of the fourth. A sac bunt byÂ

Ryan Leonard (James Creek, PA, Tussey Mountain) doubled down the left field line, scoring both and putting two Mountie runs on the board.
- Following three Hornet markers in the bottom of the fourth, Doug Smith singled to left field andÂ
Jeremy Iellimo (Arnold, PA, Valley Area) scored on a field error by the left fielder, making the score, 7-3 Shenandoah.
- Shenandoah scored one again in the bottom of the fifth, while the Mounties answered that with a run in the top of the sixth.Â
Trap Wentling (Greenville, PA, Greenville) singled with one out. He would advance to second on a groundout before aÂ
Tyler Suder (Boswell, PA, North Star) walk. Iellimo would know in Wentling with a single up the middle, making it 8-4.
- The Hornets sprang for six runs in the bottom of the sixth, extending their lead to ten runs. Mount Aloysius would go scoreless the rest of the game, while Shenandoah added on. The final score was 19-4.
