Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mounties lose to Division II Malone (Oh.)

CANTON, Oh. -- Although matching its Division II opponent with points-in-the-paint, the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team could not contain the sharp outside shooting of Malone University (Ohio), falling 101-62.

Leaders
- Dwayne Jones (Philadelphia, PA, Greater Johnstown) led the way in scoring for the Mounties and was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 20 points and nine rebounds. Scottie Porter (New London, CT, Lebanon (PA)) also contributed a season-high 14 points.
- De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin) had an efficient game, recording a double-double with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting and a team-high 10 rebounds.

How It Happened
- The Mounties got off to a solid start scoring on their first four possessions, with Jones connecting to give them the 9-3 lead after the first two minutes. Junior Bo Myers of Malone University, who was a thorn in the side for the Mounties all game, would tie the game on his first of nine three pointers for the day at the 17:13 mark.
- Malone would then take the lead, which they would not surrender for the rest of the game. Malone stretched the margin to 11 points at the 11:45 mark, leading 26-16.
- Mount Aloysius cut the margin back under double digits with a jumper by Porter. Led by Myers, Malone responded with a significant run, scoring 19 unanswered points. The half concluded with Malone leading 57-29.
- In the early part of the second half, Jones was effective inside, allowing the Mounties to match Malone in scoring. But they were unable to chip away at Malone's lead, having a 76-45 deficit at the 10-minute mark.
- Malone continued to maintain their lead, even adding to it in the final quarter - the margin reached a game-high 43 at the 3:34 mark.
- Rafael Ibáñez Medina (Mexico City, Mexico, Canarias Basketball Academy) would provide a spark for the Mounties at the conclusion of the game, knocking down two three-pointers in the final two minutes.
- Ultimately, Malone was able to hit triple-digits, winning by a final score 101-62.
