Pletcher's Overtime Goal Sends Mounties to Championship Match

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer team traveled to Penn State Behrend, on Wednesday, for the AMCC Semi-final match against the #2-seeded Lions. Rhett Pletcher scored in the 100th minute to break the tie, giving the Mounties a 2-1 victory.

Leaders
- Lachie Back (Gordon, Australia, St. Piux X College) and Rhett Pletcher (Rockwood, PA, Rockwood) led the Mounties, scoring their two goals.
- Tevin Beadle (Kingston, Jamaica, St. George's College) added the lone Mountie assist.
- Goalkeeper, Luke Priestley (Edlesborough, England, Aylesbury Grammar School), led the game with four saves.

How It Happened
- Penn State Behrend got the scoring started quickly, as they scored within the first three minutes of the game. The goal came on the Lions' first shot of the contest.
- Back evened the score, in the 16th minute, when he got a pass from Beadle that he was able to tap in the bottom left corner of the goal. The goal was his fourth of the season.
- The final 30 minutes of the first half saw one save on each side and very little offense.
- The second half only saw one save made, by Priestley. The Lions' also missed a scoring chance when they hit the crossbar, which would have given them a 2-1 advantage.
- In overtime, Priestly made one save, but then Pletcher scored late. He took a shot in from the middle of a scrum. His shot found the back of the net and gave the Mounties a 2-1, sudden death victory.

Into the Box Score
- Neither team had many scoring opportunities. Between the teams, there were a total of eight shots on goal in just shy of 100 minutes of play.
- Each team had two total corner kicks for the game, giving them less set piece chances.
