CRESSON, Pa. -- A second half comeback propelled the Mount Aloysius women's basketball team to its first win of the season, 59-55, over Penn State Altoona Wednesday night in front of a raucous crowd.

- The Mounties had four players in double figures, led by
Bree Garzel (Port Allegany, Pa., Port Allegany), who scored 17 points. She connected on two three-pointers and was a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line.

Carly Stigers (Beaverdale, PA, Forest Hills) added 15 points, seven rebounds, and a team-high four assists.Â

Cameron Bates (Fort Pierce, FL, John Carroll) recorded her first double-double of the season with ten points and 15 rebounds.

Zoé Harding (Garrett, PA, Berlin-Brothersvalley) played all 40 minutes and contributed ten points.
How It Happened
- The Lions held the early advantage after the first quarter, 13-9.
- In the second quarter, the Lions grew the margin to nine, 19-10. However, the Mounties fought back and cut the score to 19-16 on a three-pointer and back-to-back free throws from Stigers. However, Penn State Altoona went on a run to close the half, 29-18.Â
- In the beginning of the third quarter, Mount Aloysius utilized three-point shooting to pull within two points at the 6:18 mark. During that stretch, Harding nailed two three-pointers and Stigers added one from deep. Penn State Altoona would hang on to the narrow advantage as the quarter concluded, 37-35.
- The Mounties took over the lead on the first possession of the final quarter, when Garzel hit a three-pointer to make it 37-38. Garzel was huge in the quarter, with 15 of her 17 total points coming in the final ten minutes.Â
- The Mounties held on to this narrow lead in the first part of the quarter until Penn State tied the game at 50-50. However, two free throws by Garzel would give the Mounties a lead that they would not surrender the rest of the game. In the final seconds, Garzel stretched the lead to seven on two free throws, before Penn State Altoona hit a three for a final score of 59-55.Â
