CRESSSON, Pa. -- Despite holding the advantage in shooting from the floor, the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team could not overcome a large free-throw disparity, falling to visiting Alfred State University 92-81 on Saturday.
Leaders
- Carlos Palacio (Bilbao, Spain, Phelps School) scored 23 points, on 10-of-15 shooting overall and 3-of-5 from the three-point line.

De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin) added 18 points, five assists, and three blocks.

Imil Britt (Johnstown, PA, Greater Johnstown) was involved in a lot of the action on offense and defense, dishing out a season-high 12 assists and accumulating six steals.

Scottie Porter (New London, CT, Lebanon (PA)) obtained double figures with 11 points off the bench, including two three-pointers.
How It Happened
- After the first six minutes, the game was even at 8-8. Alfred State scored seven unanswered points to stretch the game to 15-8. Alfred State maintained the advantage, but the Mounties' Porter cut the lead to two on a three-pointer at the 8:21 mark.
- Another Porter three-pointer tied the game at 31 with about six minutes remaining in the half. Alfred State would build a slight lead that they carried until the end of the half for a score of 45-41.
- The Mounties came out strong in the second half, with Palacio connecting on a jumper and three-pointer to take over the lead, 46-45. Alfred State, however, responded with a three-pointer to give them the advantage, 48-46. The Mounties trailed for the next several minutes until Britt hit a game-tying jump shot at the 12-minute mark. On their next possession, Haggans made a layup to pull the Mounties ahead, 62-60. They extended the lead to 64-60 halfway through the period.
- Alfred State would respond with a 15-2 run to give them a nine-point lead with seven minutes remaining. The Mounties would stay within reach though and cut the lead to two points, 77-75, on a Palacio jump shot. However, the Mounties would not get any closer in the final minutes of the game, eventually falling 92-81.
Into the Box Score
- The Mounties were significantly more efficient from the floor, shooting 59.7 percent to Alfred State's 38.7 percent. Alfred State, however, made up the difference at the free throw line, going 27-of-31 for 87.1 percent, with the Mounties converting just 1-of-4.
- Mount Aloysius had 25 assists compared to just ten for Alfred State.
- The Mounties dominated inside, with 54 points-in-the-paint over 30 for Alfred State
