Women's basketball falls in conference opener to Penn State Behrend

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team opened its AMCC conference schedule with a loss at Penn State Behrend 90-47.

Leaders
- Cameron Bates (Fort Pierce, FL, John Carroll) led the way in scoring for the Mounties with ten points and also pulled down eight rebounds.
- Bree Garzel (Port Allegany, Pa., Port Allegany) and Zoé Harding (Garrett, PA, Berlin-Brothersvalley) each added nine points.
- Carly Stigers (Beaverdale, PA, Forest Hills) and Kendall Cramer (Canonsburg, Pa., Canon-McMillan) both chipped in seven points.

How It Happened
- The Mounties stayed with Penn State Behrend in the first quarter, even holding the advantage, 14-11, at the 3:20 mark. A minute later, however, the Lions took over the lead, which they did not surrender the rest of the game. Still, Mount Aloysius was within five at the completion of the quarter, with the score 21-16.
- Penn State Behrend used several turnovers by the Mounties to start the quarter on an 11-0 run. Bates got the Mounties on the board in the quarter with a jump shot at the 6:20 mark. Penn State Behrend then expanded the margin to 46-24 at the end of the period. 
- The Lions continued to grow the lead in the third quarter for a 67-30 score. 
- Mount Aloysius finished the game with a solid fourth quarter, only losing the period by six points. Ultimately, Penn State Behrend won 90-47. 

Into the Box Score
- The Mounties were effective in guarding the three-point line, limiting the Lions to 5-of-22 from behind-the-arc, just 22.7 percent.
