How It Happened
-
Carlos Palacio made two early three-pointers to give the Mounties a 6-5 lead. The Mounties continued to hold the advantage as the half progressed, even stretching the margin on a
Jason Coronado (Orlando, FL, Ocoee) three-pointer to 23-14 at the 8:32 mark.
- The Lions countered with a 9-2 run to decrease the lead to just one point. Penn State Behrend eventually took over the lead at the 2:16 mark, 29-27. A Haggans layup closed the half for the Mounties, with them trailing just by one point, 32-31.
- Mount Aloysius came out strong in the second half, immediately earning the lead with another three-pointer by Palacio. The lead would then change multiple times between the two teams in the first part of the second half. At the 8:29 mark, the game was tied 53-53.
- The Mounties obtained the largest lead of the second half at the 6:51 mark, 58-53. They would not hold the advantage for long, however, with the Lions quickly responding with two three-pointers. At the 4:57 mark, the Mounties were ahead slightly by one point, but the Lions followed with another three-pointer.
- While the Mounties evened the score in the final minutes, they would be unable to take back the lead over the Lions. Penn State Behrend expanded the margin to five points at the 1:42 mark, and although the Mounties fought hard to come back, Penn State Behrend would maintain that difference for a final score of 73-68.
