GOWANDA, N.Y. -- Today's doubleheader set up a matchup of unbeatens, when Mount Aloysius will take on La Roche. The Mounties swept Hilbert, on Monday, winning their eighth straight game and improving to 8-0, in AMCC play. Their win streak includes six wins that came on the road, including Monday.
GAME 1
- Mount Aloysius started the day putting pressure on the Hawks, loading the bases in the first inning, but failed to score. In the second they also got a runner to third base, but squandered the second inning opportunity, as well.
- In the third inning, the Mounties exploded to take control of the game. They started with two hits, putting runners at first and third.Â
Ryan Leonard (James Creek, PA, Tussey Mountain) would hit a sacrifice fly, driving in the first run.Â
Troy Emert (Rockwood, PA, Rockwood) followed Leonard with an RBI double, making it 2-0.Â
Matthew Brown (Hustontown, PA, Forbes Road) would add an RBI single, beforeÂ
Evan Becquet (Ebensburg, PA, Bishop Carroll) andÂ
Tyler Suder (Boswell, PA, North Star) hit back-to-back doubles to left field, making the Mountie lead 5-0. Suder would come around to score on a bases loaded balk, to add the sixth run of the inning.
- Starter,
Dylan Coyle (Canonsburg, PA, Canon-McMillan), continued his strong start by adding more consecutive scoreless innings, on his way to a shutout. He would get more insurance on the way to the finish line, from his offense.
- The Mounties would add three more runs in the fifth inning, on only one hit. Their first run came on a passed ball, with a runner at third base, beforeÂ
Jeremy Iellimo (Arnold, PA, Valley Area) doubled to drive in the second run. Iellimo came around to score on an error that allowedÂ
Brayden Lackey (New Cumberland, PA, Cedar Cliff) to reach base.
- Suder drove in the final two runs for the Mounties, as he hit his first career homerun, making the game 11-0, Mount Aloysius.
GAME 2
- The Mounties started off the second game scoring before they picked up an out.Â
Cody Smith (Loysville, PA, West Perry) reached on an error to start the game, then scored on an infield single by Leonard, giving the Mounties an early 1-0 lead.
- After each team failed to score in the second, the Hawks used two hit batters in the third inning and added a hit, to take the lead, 2-1.
- In response, the Mounties used two walks and three hits, in the fourth inning, to score three runs. Emert, Smith, and Suder all singled in the inning, helping to put runners in scoring position. BothÂ
Joshua Brown (Manassas, VA, Osbourn Park) andÂ
Jared Houser (State College, PA, State College) used sacrifice plays to drive in runs, in addtion to C. Smith's single. 4-2 Mounties.
- Following a 1-2-3 inning, the J. Brown doubled to drive in Lackey, then scored later on an error, adding two runs.
- With one-out in the sixth, C. Smith walked, and would eventually score before there would be another ball in play. 7-2.
- In the seventh inning, Mount Aloysius added five runs to their lead, but only tallied one hit. Emert provided the lone hit, as he doubled to drive in the last two runs of the inning, with two outs. After the double, the Mounties led 12-2.
- Hilbert scored three runs in response, in the bottom of the seventh, as they tallied four hits, including a homerun, making it 12-5.
- In the final three half-innings, each team scored a run. Hilbert scored to make the game 12-6 before Lackey scored in the top of the ninth, making the game 13-6. In the last at-bat, the Hawks only managed one run, ending the game, 13-7.
Highlights
- Suder picked up four hits on the day, including a 3-for-3 performance in the first game. He also drove in three runs, in Game 1.
- Coyle picked up his fourth win of the season, while throwing a complete game shutout, in Game 1. He allowed seven hits, while only walking one batter. The CG was his third of the season.

Nick Lagnese (North Huntingdon, PA, Norwin) earned his second win of the season, in Game 2, going 5.2 innings out of the bullpen. The appearance was his longest of the season.
- Emert led the Mounties with four RBIs on the day, with three of them coming in the back half of the doubleheader.

Mount Aloysius is scheduled to return home, on Wednesday, when they host La Roche (8-0). It will be their third doubleheader in five days. The matchup also features the only two teams left in the AMCC, without a conference loss, putting first-place on the line. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
