Baseball Win Streak Up to 10 Games After Sweep of Medaille

LEWISTON, N.Y. -- Mount Aloysius used 23 runs over two games, in order to sweep Medaille, winning their ninth and tenth consecutive games. The Mounties (16-6, 10-0 AMCC) beat the Mavericks (0-10, 0-10 AMCC) in Game One, 11-2, and won Game Two, 12-6.

GAME 1
- Mount Aloysius jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, scoring twice before the Mavericks recorded an out. Cody Smith (Loysville, PA, West Perry) came around to score, after reaching on a walk and stealing both second and third. Ryan Leonard (James Creek, PA, Tussey Mountain) scored the second run of the frame, when the Mounties pulled off a double steal. After loading the bases with one out, Matthew Brown (Hustontown, PA, Forbes Road) hit a sacrifice fly, to make it 3-0. Evan Becquet (Ebensburg, PA, Bishop Carroll) followed Brown with a single, scoring the fourth marker. 4-0 Mounties.
- Smith led off the second inning with a double, coming around to score two batters later, when Jeremy Iellimo (Arnold, PA, Valley Area) grounded out to shortstop. 5-0 Mount Aloysius.
- In the bottom of the third, the Mavericks scraped across a run, using two hits and an error, cutting the lead to 5-1. They scratched another across in the bottom of the fourth, after a one out triple put a runner at third, a ground ball brought him home, making it 5-2.
- The Mounties responded in the top of the fifth, using four hits and three errors, to produce four runs. Becquet drove in two runs on a single to center field, with two outs. He then came around to score on a throwing error by the Medaille catcher, also moving Tyler Suder (Boswell, PA, North Star) into scoring position at third. Smith reached on an error, allowing Suder to score, expanding the lead to 9-2.
- An inning later, the Mounties added the final two runs of the contest, with the first coming on an RBI triple by Brayden Lackey (New Cumberland, PA, Cedar Cliff), which scored Iellimo, who led off the inning with a walk. Joshua Brown (Manassas, VA, Osbourn Park) drove in Lackey from third base, on a sacrifice fly, making it 11-2, Mount Aloysius.
