CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Baseball team hosted, 15th-ranked, Shenandoah, on Sunday afternoon, for their last regular season game of the 2021 season. The visitors jumped out to an early lead to hand the Mounties a 14-4 loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hornets got out a quick lead, as the first four batters reached, capped by a grand slam, putting them ahead 4-0, without having any outs.
- Shenandoah also added two runs in both the second and third innings, leading 8-0. Mount Aloysius'Â
Joshua Brown (Manassas, VA, Osbourn Park) picked up their only hit through the first three frames.
- During the Hornets' sixth inning, they added four more runs, to extend their lead to 12-0. They used four hits and a fielder's choice to push across their four runs, three of which came with two outs.
- Mount Aloysius scored their first run of the game, in the bottom of the sixth, as they loaded the bases.Â
Troy Emert (Rockwood, PA, Rockwood) hit a sacrifice fly to center field, which scored
Ryan Leonard (James Creek, PA, Tussey Mountain), making it 12-1.
- The Mounties added another marker in the seventh inning, asÂ
Jared Houser (State College, PA, State College) scored while Leonard reached on a throwing error.
- In the top of the eighth inning, Shenandoah scored twice, as they picked up a hit and scored on a wild pitch.
- While the Mounties were unable to overcome the huge deficit, they did add two runs on an RBI double by
Zack Peck (Huntingdon, PA, Huntingdon). The double was Peck's second of the game.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Peck got hits in his first two at-bats of his career, both doubles. The second double drove in his first two career RBIs.
- Brown andÂ
Jeremy Iellimo (Arnold, PA, Valley Area) were the only other Mounties to get multiple hits, as they both went 2-for-4.

Chris Hasse (Johnstown, PA, Westmont Hilltop) had a strong performance out of the bullpen, allowing only one hit in 1.1 innings. He faced the minimum four batters, as he also induced a ground-ball double-play in the top of the ninth inning.

The Mounties will return to action, next Saturday, at Calandra-Smith Field. They will host the opening round of the AMCC Tournament, which begins Saturday.
