CRESSON, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius Head Men's Soccer Coach,
Laurence Hutchinson, earned his first career victory, on Saturday. The victory came on a penalty kick goal, in overtime.
Leaders
-Â
Juan Camacho (Ibaque, Colombia, San Bonifacio de las Lanzas) scored the lone goal for the Mounties, on the PK.
-Â
Louis Vivier (Bordeaux, France, Lycée Gustave Eiffel) attempted three shots to lead the Mounties. Seth Massoti had three, as well, for Waynesburg.
-Â
Luke Priestley (Edlesborough, England, Aylesbury Grammar School) had a team-high, five saves, for Mount Aloysius in goal.
How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius applied pressure from the beginning. Owning the box score in all three periods, with 11 of their 18 shots landing on target, overall.
- However, the Mounties played a disadvantage, most of the game. In the 20th minute,Â
Tevin Beadle (Kingston, Jamaica, St. George's College) received a red card. The red card was the end of Beadle's day and forced the Mounties to play a man down, for the remainder of the game.
- In the second half, the game became chippy, with four yellow cards being handed out. Both teams committed 10 fouls in the period, adding to the physical play of the first half.
- Late in the period, Mount Aloysius missed multiple close chances to scoring.Â
Logan Walerysiak (Johnstown, PA, Conemaugh Township) had a shot sail just wide of the top corner of the goal andÂ
Florent Merle (Marseille, France, Lycée Notre Dame de France) almost foundÂ
Enoch Wiredu (Harford County, Maryland, Harford Technical) on what would have been an impressive header goal.
- With no goals in regulation, the game headed to overtime. In the 96th minute, Camacho got fouled in the goal box, leading to a penalty kick. Camacho went to the upper left corner for the game-winner, ending the match with a bang.
Into the Box Score
- Mount Aloysius did have more opportunities that the Yellow Jackets, having put ten shots on goal, in addition to Camacho's goal. Waynesburg only had eight shots in the game.
- Each team had an identical number of fouls in each half, proving the game to be very physical throughout.
Career Firsts
- Hutchinson earned his first career victory as the Mounties' manager. He had to wait almost three years, since his last victory on the Mounties' sideline. He started his head coaching career, with a loss this past spring, before beginning this season 0-1-2.
- Camacho joined the Mounties for the first time, this fall, in his freshman season. The penalty kick goal was his first collegiate goal and his first career game-winning goal.
