Mounties Win First Set but Drop Next Three in Loss to Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- On Tuesday, the Mount Aloysius Volleyball team started their month-long road trip with a trip to Penn State Harrisburg. After winning the first set, they lost the final three, falling 3-1 to the Lions.

Leaders
- Ava Myers (Gallitzin, PA, Bishop Carroll) led the Mounties with 10 kills. It was the second time this season that a Mountie has had double-digit kills in a game.
- Emma Colyer (Orlando, FL, Olympia) had 17 assists while Sydney Lechner (Bellwood, PA, Bellwood-Antis ) had 15. Alyssa Snyder had a game-high, 36 assists, for Penn State Harrisburg.
- Abigail Fletcher (Salem, VA, Glenvar) and Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) each had 16 digs to lead Mount Aloysius.

How It Happened
- The first set started out with both teams trading points. After PSH scored the first point, the Mounties scored three straight, followed by three straight for the Lions, making it 4-3. They continued to trade the lead back and forth until it was 11-10, Lions.
- Mount Aloysius then had two separate, six point stretches, which burst open the set. They finished the set on a 15-6 run, including three kills from Parrish.
- Set number two was played even again, as the teams were tied 15-15. The Lions then went on a 7-1 stretch, putting the Mounties behind and they were unable to come back. That would even the whole game at one.
- In the third set, the game was score was again close, as Colyer picked up a kill to make it 16-15, Penn State Harrisburg. Following the point, the Lions would score the final nine points of the set, giving them a 2-1 advantage in the game.
- An Emily Henry (Carrolltown, PA, Cambria Heights) kill in the fourth set gave the Mounties a 7-6 edge. However, the Lions scored eight of the next nine points, putting them ahead, 14-8. While the teams played even over the final 22 points, it was not enough for Mount Aloysius, as they fell 3-1 in the match.

Into The Box Score
- Even in the loss, Mount Aloysius produced their best hitting game of the season, as they had 39 kills and hit .147 for the game. It was the first time they hit over .065 for the year.
- Myers had one of the better performances of her season, as she only committed two errors to go with her 10 kills.
- The final set was the only set of the game that the winning team had a lower hitting percentage than the winning team. Mount Aloysius hit .333 and Penn State Harrisburg hit .273.
