VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Volleyball team was back in action today at the Marlin Invitational, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan. In their two games today, they were set to face off with Mary Washington and Southern Virginia.

Leaders
- Emily Henry (Carrolltown, PA, Cambria Heights) and Kylie Wadsworth (Sidman, PA, Forest Hills) led the Mounties with seven kills each, on the day.
- Hannah Atzeni (Sligo, PA, Union) picked up 17 assists, between the two contests.
- Once again, Abigail Fletcher (Salem, VA, Glenvar) led Mount Aloysius with five digs against Mary Washington and 11 digs against Southern Virginia.

How It Happened

GAME 1 (vs. Mary Washington)
- The Mounties jumped ahead first, scoring five of the first six points. During the run, Wadsworth, Bella Kies (Bellwood, PA, Bellwood-Antis ), and Matie Rupp (York, PA, West York) all produced kills.
- After trading a few points, with the Mounties leading 7-4, UMW went on a 15-3 run, going ahead 19-10. This put the Mounties behind and they were unable to recover, dropping the first set, 25-15.
- In set two, the struggles continued, as UMW sprinted ahead 9-2. The Mounties only scored on their own serve once during the set, falling 25-10.
- During the third set, Mount Aloysius fell behind 20-5, ultimately losing the set and the game.

GAME 2 (vs. Southern Virginia)
- Beginning the first set, Mount Aloysius started fairly strong, getting ahead 5-4. Following a kill by Henry, making the score, 7-6 in favor of SVU, the Knights scored nine of the next 11, going ahead 16-8.
- The Mounties tried to fight back, cutting it to 18-13, before a six point stretch put the Knights within set point. They finished off set number one, 25-15.
- In set number two, the teams traded the lead back and forth, with a team getting ahead by more than two points, only once early. A Kiersten Szpala (Ebensburg, PA, Central Cambria) kill made it 15-13, Knights, before they rattled off seven of the next eight, effectively pulling away.
- Set two ended up being the tightest of the three, as the Mounties fell 25-18.
- Mount Aloysius struggled in the third and final set, only registering eight points, falling 25-8.
