PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Despite a competitive first half, the Mount Aloysius men's basketball team fell 87-65 at La Roche University Wednesday night.

Carlos Palacio (Bilbao, Spain, Phelps School) continued his excellent season with a team-high 18 points and six rebounds.

Mike Harris (Hampton, Va., Peninsula Catholic) was also in double figures, finishing with 12 points.

Imil Britt (Johnstown, PA, Greater Johnstown) scored nine points, while
Dwayne Jones (Philadelphia, PA, Greater Johnstown) added eight points.

Wesley Ayers (Independence, VA, Grayson County) and
Rafael Ibáñez Medina (Mexico City, Mexico, Canarias Basketball Academy) each contributed seven points.
How It Happened
- The Mounties had a solid start, leading 12-4 after the first six minutes. Over the next part of the game, the Mounties held on to their advantage and were ahead 23-15 with eight minutes remaining in the half.
- However, at the 5:14 mark, the Mounties lead narrowed to just two points and then was overtaken by La Roche a minute later, 28-27. While the Mounties were briefly able to regain the lead, 31-30, La Roche hit a three-pointer on its last possession for a slight advantage at the half, 33-31.
- In the early stages of the second half, the Mounties stayed with La Roche and were only down three points, 46-43, at the 16 minute mark. However, La Roche expanded the margin to 15 points with 11 minutes remaining. The Mounties fought back with a 6-0 run to cut the lead to single figures, 63-54.
- But the Mounties would not get any closer the rest of the game, with La Roche building on its advantage and ultimately winning 87-65.

- Mount Aloysius had a higher three-point shooting percentage than La Roche, 41.2 percent to 35.3 percent.
- The Mounties were also more efficient from the free throw line, shooting 85.7 percent to La Roche's 71.4 percent.
