PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- In a tight contest in which the final two sets were decided by just two points, the Mount Aloysius women's volleyball team fell to AMCC second-place team La Roche University, 3-1, on Tuesday night at the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center.
Leaders
- Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) led the team with 13 kills and 19 digs.

Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) added six kills and 12 digs.

Kiersten Szpala (Ebensburg, PA, Central Cambria) finished second for the Mounties with seven kills and also had five assists

Sydney Lechner (Bellwood, PA, Bellwood-Antis) contributed 15 assists and two aces.

Emma Colyer (Orlando, FL, Olympia) had a team-high 16 assists and also tallied ten digs.

Kadence Della Valle (Carrolltown, Pa., Cambria Heights) served four aces on the night.
How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius owned the opening portion of the first set, obtaining a 7-3 lead, before La Roche went on a run to go ahead 8-7. The set then stayed close with no team gaining a significant advantage and was tied at 19 points each. The Mounties then won six of the last eight points, led by three kills from Richards, to win the set, 25-21.
- The Mounties and La Roche were even at eight points in the second set, before La Roche strung together nine straight points for a 17-8 advantage. After going down 20-10, the Mounties then put together an impressive 7-0 run, with Della Valle as the server, to cut the lead to 20-17. However, after that stretch, Mount Aloysius only won one more point, eventually dropping the second set 25-18, evening the overall score to 1-1.
- The third set was tight with the largest gap being four points by La Roche at 18-14. Mount Aloysius, however, quickly recovered with three straight points for just a single point deficit, 18-17. Then, on a kill by Parrish, the Mounties tied the set at 19. The game was tied again at 21 and 22 points each, before La Roche scored three straight points to get it one point away from the set victory. Mount Aloysius saved two set points to even the game at 24, before La Roche won two points in a row for the 26-24 Set 3 win.
- The fourth set was similar to the third, with the Mounties hanging right with La Roche but going down match point at 24-22. Mount Aloysius then again tied the game, 24-24, before La Roche earned the final two points for a Set 4 win, 26-24, and overall victory, 3-1.

- Mount Aloysius hit .391 compared to LaRoche's .154 in the first set.
- The Mounties led in digs: 72 to 68.
