Women's Volleyball Sweeps Hilbert

HAMBURG, N.Y. -- The Mount Aloysius women's volleyball team earned a convincing 3-0 sweep over host Hilbert College Saturday morning to move to 3-2 in the AMCC Conference. 

Leaders
- Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) led the team in kills and digs, with 13 and seven. She also recorded a pair of aces. 
- Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) had eight kills, while also impressing at serve with nine aces.
- Emma Colyer (Orlando, FL, Olympia) contributed 20 assists and Sydney Lechner (Bellwood, PA, Bellwood-Antis) tallied eight.
- Kadence Della Valle (Carrolltown, Pa., Cambria Heights) added four aces and six digs. 
- Madison Johnson (Hopewell, PA, Northern Bedford County) finished with six kills.

How It Happened
- The Mounties got off to a great start, winning the first ten of eleven points, punctuated by two aces by Della Valle, for a 10-1 lead. Hilbert chipped away slightly at the lead to make it 15-7. Then, Mount Aloysius went on a seven-point run to increase the advantage to 22-7. The Mounties closed out the first set on a kill by Richards, 25-10.
- Mount Aloysius opened the second set in similar fashion to the first, winning six straight points, featuring three kills by Richards and four assists by Coyler. Hilbert got the score within two points at 9-7 and then 10-8 but the Mounties maintained control throughout the set. With a 20-16 lead, Mount Aloysius strung together four points, including two aces from Parrish, to give it set point, 24-16. The Mounties then earned the second set win, 25-18, for a 2-0 overall lead.
- After going ahead 6-3 at the beginning of the third set, the Mounties put together a nine-point run for a commanding 15-3 advantage. At 18-7 Mount Aloysius won seven unanswered points, in which Parrish had three kills, to earn the third set victory, 25-7, and overall win, 3-0.

Into the Box Score 
- Mount Aloysius hit an impressive .460 for the match, including hitting .833 specifically in the third set.
- The Mounties held significant advantages in the major statistical categories except for blocks. They led in kills (34-19), aces (16-5), assists (31-17), and digs (24-13).

Up Next   
- Mount Aloysius enters the final week of the regular season with an AMCC matchup at home against Pitt-Greensburg on Wed. Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. Pitt-Greensburg does not have a win in the conference and holds one overall win. Going back to 2017, the Mounties have won five straight games against the Bobcats, only dropping one set total in those matchups.
