Women's Volleyball Stopped by Lebanon Valley, Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's volleyball team saw its five-game win streak come to an end in a tri-match against Lebanon Valley College and Lancaster Bible College on Saturday afternoon at Horst Athletic Center. The Mounties had a 2-1 set advantage against Lebanon Valley but ultimately fell 3-2, and then later dropped a 3-1 match against Lancaster Bible.

Leaders
Game 1
- Against Lebanon Valley College, Kiersten Szpala (Ebensburg, PA, Central Cambria) finished with 11 kills, three assists and two blocks.
- Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) also had 11 kills, while leading the team in digs with 30.
- Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) contributed nine kills and 13 digs.
- Sydney Lechner (Bellwood, PA, Bellwood-Antis) totaled 22 assists and 10 digs.
- Maecy Tuskovich (Tyrone, Pa., Tyrone) recorded 14 digs and a team-high three aces.
- Emma Colyer (Orlando, FL, Olympia) was second on the team in assists with 19 in the game.

Game 2
- In the game vs. Lancaster Bible College,  Parish tallied eight kills, ten digs, and two aces.
- Richards recorded eight kills and 12 digs.
- Colyer dished out a team-high 18 assists, while Lechner added eight assists. 
- Kadence Della Valle (Carrolltown, Pa., Cambria Heights) served three aces and finished with eight digs.
- Madison Johnson (Hopewell, PA, Northern Bedford County) totaled six kills and a pair of assists.

How It Happened
Game 1 vs. Lebanon Valley College
- LVC controlled the majority of first set but the Mounties made it interesting with a late run to get to 22-17, but in the end would fall 25-17.
- In Set 2, Mount Aloysius was down 18-15, before putting together a string of six points to give it a 21-18 advantage. The Mounties would then close out the set, 25-21, to even the overall score.
- The Mounties dominated the later stages of the third set to eventually win 25-13 and gain a 2-1 set lead.
- The fourth set was the closest yet with no team earning a significant advantage and ties occurring at several points including at 23-all. LVC, however, won the final two points to send the match to a deciding fifth set.
- In the final set, after the score was even at 3, LVC went on 6-0 run to give it a 9-3 lead. The Mounties went down 12-5 but then produced a five-point run of their own to get within two points, 12-10. LVC however won three of the last four points to take the set, 15-11, and earn the comeback victory, 3-2.

Game 2 vs. Lancaster Bible College
- In the opener, the Mounties stayed close early on but Lancaster Bible closed with a six-point run to put away the set, 25-14.
- The Mounties fought well in the second set and were tied with Lancaster Bible, 20-20. However, Lancaster Bible closed well again, winning the last five points for 25-20 win and 2-0 set advantage.
- Mount Aloysius did not go away, however, extending the match with a commanding 25-19 win in the third set.
- Lancaster Bible would then respond forcefully with a 25-12 fourth set win, resulting in a 3-1 overall defeat of Mount Aloysius.

Into the Box Score
- Mount Aloysius led in the majority of statistical categories against Lebanon Valley including: points, kills, blocks, assists, and kills.
- The Mounties had an impressive .406 hitting percentage in the third set against Lancaster Bible.

Up Next
- The Mounties will look to conclude their nonconference slate in the winning column, when they travel to Franciscan University on Monday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
