CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's volleyball team improved its conference record to 4-2 with a 3-0 defeat of visiting Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday night.
Leaders
- Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) continued her outstanding season by leading the team in kills (11) and digs (13), while also contributing two aces.

Kiersten Szpala (Ebensburg, PA, Central Cambria) was second in kills with eight, and she also had six digs and two blocks.

Sydney Lechner (Bellwood, PA, Bellwood-Antis) tallied 15 assists on the night and
Emma Colyer (Orlando, FL, Olympia) recorded 13 assists and two aces.

Kadence Della Valle (Carrolltown, Pa., Cambria Heights) served a team-high three aces and had 12 digs.

Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) and
Madison Johnson (Hopewell, PA, Northern Bedford County) added six kills apiece.
How It Happened
- The Mounties won eight of the first nine points for an early 8-1 lead. Pitt-Greensburg fought back to get within one point, 12-11. Mount Aloysius then picked up its play in the middle of the set, expanding the margin to 20-13. The Mounties would then win the set by a score of 25-18, ending on a kill by Richards.
- With Colyer serving, Mount Aloysius opened the second set with seven straight points. Pitt-Greensburg cut into the lead to make it 9-6 before the Mounties put together a run of nine unanswered points for a 18-6 advantage. The Mounties closed out the remainder of the set, led by three kills from Szpala, by a score of 25-9.
- Unlike the first two sets, Mount Aloysius was in an early hole in the beginning of the third set, falling behind 10-6. The Mounties responded with a 5-0 run, featuring three kills by Richards, to take over the lead 11-10. The game then stayed extremely close, with multiple ties, until the Mounties gained a three-point edge at 22-19. Pitt-Greensburg won two points to make it 22-21 before Mount Aloysius earned a set point, 24-21. The Mounties secured the set on their third try, 25-23, with Richards coming through with another kill, for a 3-0 overall victory.
