EBENSBURG, Pa. -- Freshman
Julia Davis (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Southmoreland ) earned two wins on the day for the Mounties, but they could not contend with the depth of AMCC rival Penn State Altoona, falling 6-3 on Sunday afternoon at Ebensburg Tennis Center.

Campbell McCann (Pittsburgh, Pa., Avonworth ) for a commanding win at No. 2 doubles and then won a tight, three-set match at No. 3 singles.

Kierra Mountain (Roaring Spring, PA, Central) was the other winner in singles at the No. 2 spot.

Kendra Sines (Somerset, PA, Somerset) were right with their No. 1 doubles opponents, but saw the match slip away at the end, falling 8-5.Â
How It Happened
- The Mounties earned one doubles point at the No. 2 flight, when Davis and McCann cruised to an 8-2 victory. The No. 1 doubles match was close, with many of the games decided by a deuce point, but Penn State Altoona got the win, 8-5. Penn State Altoona also won at No. 3 doubles to give them the crucial 2-1 advantage heading into singles.
- At the top three singles spots, Mount Aloysius competed well, with Mountain winning a tough 6-4, 7-6(5) match at No. 2 singles and Davis defeating her opponent in a third set tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-3, 10-4. Sines played an excellent first set against Michaela Merca, one of the best players in the conference, but lost 7-5, 6-1.
- The Mounties were down just 4-3 going into the lower three singles flights but unfortunately fell in all three spots, with Penn State Altoona closing out the match, 6-3.
