WINCHESTER, Va. -- The non-conference Men's Soccer schedule wrapped up for Mount Aloysius, on Wednesday, as they traveled to Shenandoah. The Hornets scored three times in the second half to down the Mounties, 3-1.
Leaders
- Freshman,
Braden Callahan (Duncansville, Pa. /Â Hollidaysburg), scored the lone Mountie goal, which happened to be the first of his college career.
- Both
Michael Boyle (Woolwich Township, N.J. / Kingsway)Â and
Jonathan Fernandez (Herndon, Va. / Herndon)Â registered an assist on the Callahan goal.
-
Luke Priestley (Edlesborough, England / Aylesbury Grammar School)Â had a game-high, four saves, for the Mounties.
How It Happened
- Over the first 30 minutes, very little scoring action occurred, as the Hornets had three shots on goal and the Mounties had one. Callahan subbed into the game just into the 35th minute. Approximately 30 seconds later, he gave the Mounties a 1-0 lead. After the ball was kicked out from a corner kick, Fernandez found Boyle and he sent the ball into the box. Callahan made a great play on the ball and found the back of the net.
- Callahan put another shot on goal five minutes later, but it was saved. The game went to the half with the Mounties ahead, 1-0.
- The second half did not start well for the Mounties. After
Louis Bez (Bordeaux, France /Â Lycée Sainte-Marie de la Bastide)Â took the first shot of the half, Shenandoah scored on their next three shot attempts. They grabbed a 3-1 lead, in the 57th minute.
- Mount Aloysius had two more shots on goal, throughout the rest of the period, but could not score. Shenandoah hung on for the 3-1 victory.
Into the Box Score
- The shooting stats were fairly even, as Shenandoah attempted just one more shot (10-9) for the game, and put two more shots on goal (7-5).
- While there were 25 total fouls called, neither team received a card during the contest.
