BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team competed at the Renie Moss Memorial Tip-Off Classic this past weekend, falling to Arcadia University, 67-52, and Neumann University, 81-62.
Game #1 vs. Arcadia University
Mount Aloysius was right with Arcadia during the first half, but the Knights used a strong third quarter to build a lead that proved to be insurmountable, winning 67-52 on Friday night.
Leaders

Hanna Rittenhouse (Mc Veytown, Pa., Mifflin County) finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Karissa Mercier (Freedom, Pa., Freedom) also had 11 points, including two three-pointers, while grabbing seven rebounds.

Cameron Bates (Fort Pierce, Fla., John Carroll) was the third Mountie in double figures with ten points and added five rebounds.

Chloe Clemons (Kailua, Hawaii, Kalaheo) contributed seven points and
Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) recorded six points and two assists.
How It Happened
- At the start of the game, the Mounties scored first before Arcadia went on a 7-0 run for a 7-2 lead. Then a three-pointer by Rittenhouse and layup by Clemons evened the game at 7 about midway through the quarter. Arcadia opened a five-point margin but Mount Aloysius responded to get within one point at the one minute mark, 15-14. Arcadia held a slight edge at the end of the quarter, 16-14.
- A Clemons jumper tied the game, 16-16, at the 9:01 mark, but Arcadia answered with back-to-back threes to make it 22-16. Beginning at the 6:41 mark, Mount Aloysius scored seven unanswered points, punctuated with a Richards three-pointer to take over the lead, 23-22. Arcadia then has a 7-0 run of its own to go ahead 29-23 in the final minute of the period. Two free throws by Richards concluded the quarter, meaning Mount Aloysius trailed by four points, 29-25, at halftime.
- Arcadia began the third quarter with six straight points in three minutes to stretch the gap to ten points, 35-25. Arcadia maintained and even built on this advantage during the quarter, while holding the Mounties to their lowest-scoring quarter, seven points, of the game. Arcadia led by 14 points, 46-32, heading into the final quarter.
- Arcadia hit two three-pointers early in the quarter to extend the lead to 20 points, 52-32. The Mounties continued to battle and cut the difference to 11 points, 58-47, with three minutes remaining in the game. That is the closest they would get, however, eventually falling 67-52, for their second defeat of the season.
Into the Box Score
- Mount Aloysius had a solid shooting night, leading Arcadia in field goal percentage (38 percent to 37.1 percent) and three-point percentage (40 percent to 25.7 percent).
- The Mounties were let down by turnovers, with 26 compared to 14 for Arcadia.
- Both teams were relatively even in total rebounds, with Arcadia holding a slight edge, 38-37.
Game #2 vs. Neumann University
The Mounties started strong, but faded in the middle quarters, as Neumann University won 81-62 on Saturday afternoon.

- In 39 minutes of action, Bates tallied 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
- Hanna Rittenhouse scored 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while dishing out a team-high five assists.
- Clemons went 3-of-5 from long distance, finishing with in double figures with 11 points.

Paris Dugan (Dover, Pa., Dover) each contributed seven points and two assists.

How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius opened the game with five straight points, on a jumper by Hanna Rittenhouse and Clemons first three-pointer of the day. Four minutes into the game, a jumper by Bates put the Mounties ahead by eight points, 10-2. Mount Aloysius extended the lead 12 points at 3:33 mark and then to 19-5 with just under two minutes to go in the first period. The quarter closed with Mount Aloysius ahead 19-10.
- An 8-2 stretch by Neumann brought it back within three points, 21-18, after the first three minutes of the second quarter. The Mounties had a slight advantage until Neumann tied the game, 24-24, at the 5:39 mark. Neumann then built the lead to ten points, 37-27, as the quarter reached the final two minutes. Bates, Halle Rittenhouse, and Mercier all contributed in the last part of the quarter to get Mount Aloysius back within five points, 38-33.
- The Mounties struggled out of the break as Neumann put together a 15-point run over the course of about four minutes for 53-33 lead. Neumann maintained the advantage the rest of the quarter with the score ending up 67-49.
- Mount Aloysius only lost the fourth quarter by one point, but the deficit was too big to overcome, as they fell by final score of 81-62.
Into the Box Score
- Led by Clemons, the Mounties went 7-of-16 from the three-point line for 43.8 percent.
- Mount Aloysius finished with more assists than Neumann: 16-15.
- While the Mounties decreased their total turnovers from the game against Arcadia, the disparity still proved costly, as they had 17 compared to Neumann's eight.
