Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Mounties Cruise By Alfred State, Move On to AMCC Title Game

CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius men's soccer team won in commanding fashion, 4-1, over Alfred State University on Wednesday afternoon, earning a return trip to the AMCC Championship game to defend its 2021 title.

Leaders
- Juan Camacho (Ibaque, Colombia, San Bonifacio de las Lanzas) led the Mounties with two goals.
- Louis Bez (Bordeaux, France, Lycée Sainte-Marie de la Bastide) added one goal and one assist.
- Jonathan Fernandez (Herndon, VA, Herndon) rounded out the scoring for the Mounties with one goal.

How It Happened
- Nine minutes into the game, Camacho scored on a breakaway to put Mount Aloysius ahead 1-0. Then, at the 24:21 mark, Fernandez found the back of the net on an assist by Bez for a 2-0 advantage. The Mounties kept the 2-0 lead heading into the second half but would have to overcome some adversity, as they went down one player due to a red card at the 32:29 mark.
- In the second half, despite being down one player, Mount Aloysius scored again on a long free kick by Bez in the 57th minute. Then, after an Alfred State red card that evened out the teams at the 64:43 mark, Camacho came through a second time, on a penalty kick, to increase the margin to 4-0. Approximately one minute later, Alfred State managed to get on the board, but the significant lead would prove to be insurmountable, as Mount Aloysius won by a final score of 4-1.

Into the Box Score
- Mount Aloysius edged Alfred State in shots, 14-13, with seven on goal compared to four.
- Both teams had three saves on the day.
- The referees were busy with seven yellow cards and two red cards between the teams.

Up Next
- Mount Aloysius moves on to the AMCC Championship game at Penn State Behrend on Saturday Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. Both teams have owned the conference this season, neither dropping a game, and only having one tie, which occurred with each other back on Oct. 1. The Mounties are aiming to win back-to-back AMCC titles, while Penn State Behrend was last crowned champion in 2019.
