Men's Basketball Dominates Penn College

CRESSON, Pa. -- On Mountie Madness night, the men's basketball team put on an offensive showcase for the enthusiastic crowd, winning 101-72 over visiting Penn College of Technology. The Mounties reached the 100-point mark in a victory for the first time since a win against Franciscan University on January 20, 2014.

Leaders

Will Hagwood (Willowick, Oh., South) led the Mounties with 24 points, including two three-pointers, and five assists, while also grabbing seven rebounds.
- Jason Coronado (Orlando, FL, Ocoee) went 4-of-8 from long range and finished with 20 points.
- De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin) recorded 16 points and seven rebounds and was dominant on the defensive side with four blocks and four steals.
- Alex Goddard (Canal Fulton, Oh., Northwest ) was very productive in just 11 minutes of action, contributing 12 points, including two three-pointers.
- Ebone Junior (Silver Spring, Md., Paint Branch) added eight points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
- Trent Ramirez-Keller (Gettysburg, Pa., Gettysburg) dished out five assists, while Alphonso Morrow (Baltimore, Md., Parkville) chipped in seven points and three assists.

How It Happened
- After about five minutes of play, Penn College had the early advantage of 13-7. Then, the Mounties went on an 8-0 run, featuring two long-range makes by Coronado, to take over the lead at the 13:14 mark, 15-13. The lead changed hands over the next three minutes with no team gaining a significant margin and reached a 20-20 tie midway through the half.
- Mount Aloysius followed with ten unanswered points, with seven points coming from Goddard, to make it 30-20 at the 7:24 mark. Penn College stayed within reach over the next several minutes, but the Mounties were in control, stretching the margin to ten points on a fast break layup by Hagwood, 45-35, with three minutes remaining in the half. Mount Aloysius ultimately led 49-40 heading into halftime.
- Penn College challenged Mount Aloysius during the opening three minutes of the second half, cutting the lead to just three points, 53-50. The Mounties answered, however, going on a ten-point run, featuring six points from Haggans, to make it 63-50 with about fifteen minutes remaining in the half. 
- Mount Aloysius increased the margin to 20 points, 73-53, at the 11:05 mark on a layup by Ramirez-Keller. As the clock ticked down, the Mounties built on their advantage, opening up a 30-point lead after a breakaway dunk by Junior and two free throws from Coronado. In the final minutes, Rafael Ibáñez Medina (Mexico City, Mexico, Canarias Basketball Academy) put the Mounties over the century mark with a three-pointer, as Mount Aloysius eventually earned a 101-72 victory for its third win of the season.
