Mounties Fall to Shenandoah

CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team got within a margin of six points in the third quarter, but visiting Shenandoah University pulled away to win 78-53 on Wednesday night.

Leaders
- Cameron Bates (Fort Pierce, Fla., John Carroll) had a strong all-around game with 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
- Chloe Clemons (Kailua, Hawaii, Kalaheo) reached double figures with 12 points, including two 3-pointers, while adding three assists.
- Hailey Drutarosky (Freedom, Pa., Sewickley Academy) contributed nine points, including three makes from beyond the arc.
- Hanna Rittenhouse (Mc Veytown, Pa., Mifflin County) recorded eight points, six rebounds, and two assists.

How It Happened
- After Shenandoah opened the game with a 5-0 lead, the Mounties answered with an 8-0 run, featuring 3-pointers from Drutarosky and Clemons, to go ahead 8-5 at the 5:54 mark. A jumper by Hanna Rittenhouse expanded the advantage to 10-7 midway through the quarter. After four straight points from Shenandoah to retake the lead 13-10, Drutarosky nailed another 3-pointer to tie the game 13-13 with just 1:33 left in the period. Shenandoah, however, finished the quarter well with a 6-0 run to make it 19-13.
- Shenandoah's momentum continued in the beginning of the second quarter, as they expanded the margin to 16 points, 29-13. The Mounties got on the board in the quarter with two free throws from Bates, and then converted four more points to cut the advantage to ten points, 29-19, at the the 3:09 mark. Shenandoah eventually finished the half with a 13-point difference, leading 37-24.
- Mount Aloysius challenged Shenandoah in the third quarter, getting within just six points, 40-34, after about four minutes of play. However, Shenandoah outscored the Mounties 13-4 the rest of the quarter, increasing their advantage to 15 points, 53-38.
- Shenandoah used efficient shooting in the fourth quarter, going 8-of-9 from the floor for 88.89 percent, to pull away from Mount Aloysius and secure the victory, 78-53.
