Pitt-Greensburg beats Women's Basketball in AMCC contest

CRESSON, Pa. -- Guard Carly Stigers (Beaverdale, PA, Forest Hills) caught fire in the fourth quarter and finished with a season-high 20 points, but Mount Aloysius could not overcome visiting Pitt-Greensburg, falling 84-64 Monday night.

Stigers scored 14 of her team-high 20 points in the fourth quarter. She also connected on three 3-pointers during the game.
- Abbey Dobbins (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) came off the bench to contribute 13 points.
- Cameron Bates (Fort Pierce, FL, John Carroll) added nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.
- Bree Garzel (Port Allegany, Pa., Port Allegany) and Chloe Clemons (Kailua, HI, Kalaheo) each chipped in seven points. Clemons also dished out a team-high three assists.

How It Happened
- Pitt-Greensburg controlled the early part of the game and were ahead 12-3 after the first five minutes. On the next possession, Garzel converted two free throws to cut the difference to seven points. However, that is the closest the Mounties would get in the quarter, with Pitt-Greensburg increasing the lead to double figures by the end of the first quarter, 19-8.
- Pitt Greensburg's lead grew to 23 halfway through the second quarter with the score 37-14.Toward the latter stage of the quarter, the Mounties went on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 16 points. Pitt-Greensburg stopped the run with a three-pointer to finish the quarter up 40-21.
- Led by Stigers, overall the Mounties played a strong second half, only losing the third quarter by five points and then scoring four more points than their opponent in the fourth quarter. However, this was not enough to overcome the advantage that Pitt-Greensburg built, with the Mounties eventually falling 84-64.
