Second half lifts Mounties over Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- After falling behind in the opening half, Mount Aloysius rallied in the second half to narrowly defeat host Pitt-Greensburg, 75-74, Wednesday night. 

Leaders
-
Mike Harris (Hampton, Va., Peninsula Catholic) led the Mounties with 19 points and five rebounds.
- Imil Britt (Johnstown, PA, Greater Johnstown) recorded 17 points, five assists, and five rebounds.
- Dwayne Jones (Philadelphia, PA, Greater Johnstown) added 14 points and five rebounds.
- Wesley Ayers (Independence, VA, Grayson County) was also in double figures, finishing with 10 points, including two three-pointers, and five rebounds.

How It Happened
- Britt carried the Mounties early, scoring their first nine points. A jumper by Harris gave the Mounties a three-point lead, 11-8, at the 16:23 mark. A couple minutes later, another layup by Britt increased the Mounties' margin to 15-8.
- However, at the 11:31 mark, Pitt-Greensburg went ahead, 18-17. Pitt-Greensburg maintained a slight advantage the rest of the period and eventually stretched the lead to two possessions heading into the second half, 39-33.
- Pitt-Greensburg expanded the margin to double figures at the start of the second half, 43-33. But the Mounties chipped away, cutting the deficit to just two points at the 14:09 mark. Still, Pitt-Greensburg maintained control and increased the lead to nine points at both the 10:41 mark and then again at the 9:45 mark.
- The Mounties would make their move, however, going on a 10-1 run to even the game at 66-66 with five minutes remaining. Jason Coronado (Orlando, FL, Ocoee) then hit a three-pointer to give the Mounties their first lead since the early part of the game, 69-68. After the teams traded baskets, the Mounties would go ahead 71-70 at the 3:32 mark and not surrender the advantage as the final minutes ticked down, holding on to win 75-74.

- The Mounties led Pitt-Greensburg in field goal percentage: 55.6 percent to 37.5 percent.
- Mount Aloysius was perfect from the free-throw line, going 9-of-9.
- The Mounties scored significantly more points-in-the-paint: 42 compared to Pitt-Greensburg's 16.
