Women's Hoops defeated by Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Despite a solid opening quarter, the Mount Aloysius women's basketball team fell in its second meeting with AMCC opponent Pitt-Greensburg, 77-38, Wednesday evening.

Leaders

Carly Stigers (Beaverdale, PA, Forest Hills) recorded 11 points, including three 3-pointers.
- Cameron Bates (Fort Pierce, FL, John Carroll) added ten points, five rebounds, and two assists.
- Bree Garzel (Port Allegany, Pa., Port Allegany) chipped in seven points.

How It Happened
- After falling behind early in the first quarter, Stigers scored eleven unanswered points, including three shots from long distance, to tie the game at 12, and then give the Mounties the 15-12 lead. Pitt-Greensburg hit a layup to end the quarter with the Mounties still slightly ahead 15-14.
- The Mounties continued to hold a small advantage after the first three minutes of the second quarter, 17-16. Pitt-Greensburg took over the lead a minute later but the Mounties stayed close, down just by one point, 20-19, halfway through the quarter. However, Pitt-Greensburg soon gained control, converting 21 more points the rest of the quarter to just four points for the Mounties, resulting in 41-23 halftime score.
- Pitt-Greensburg continued to expand its lead in the third and fourth quarters. They led by 28 points after the third quarter, 55-27, and then ultimately won 77-38.
