MYRTLE BEACH -- The Mount Aloysius Baseball team suffered their first loss, on Monday, of their spring trip to Myrtle Beach. They lost a close game, 7-6, to Suffolk University.

Joshua Brown (Manassas, VA, Osbourn Park) led the Mounties with two RBIs and two runs scored. His two RBIs came on a two-run homerun in the sixth inning.

Zack Peck (Huntingdon, PA, Huntingdon) added two hits in five at-bats, including a solo homerun, also in the sixth inning.

Tyler Suder (Boswell, PA, North Star)Â each added two hits, with Suder driving in a run.
How It Happened
- Suffolk started off the scoring, in the bottom of the first, with a leadoff homerun. That followed a 1-2-3 inning from the Mounties in the top half.
- The Mounties responded in the top of the third inning, plating two runs. After two walks and a sacrifice bunt, the Mounties had two runners in scoring position with one out. Suder singled to right field, driving in the tying run.Â
Jared Houser (State College, PA, State College) scored the second run of the inning as Suffolk committed a two-out error, allowing him to come across to score. 2-0 Mounties.
- In the fourth inning, the Rams added two runs on two hits and a Mountie error. That gave them a 3-2 lead heading into the fifth inning.
- Following the midway point, Suffolk started off their half of the fifth with four consecutive singles, which plated two runs. The runs stretched their lead to 5-2.
- Mount Aloysius started off the sixth inning with a literal bang, as Peck led off the inning with a homer, making it 5-3. Emert andÂ
Jackson Kozlovac (Portage, Pa., Portage) each singled to follow Peck, putting two runners on. Brown followed them up with a three-run bomb, giving the Mounties a 6-5 lead with nobody out in the frame.
- Suffolk strung together three hits in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring twice to get back in the lead, 7-6.
- The Mounties were unable to get a runner past second base over their final three at-bats, giving the Rams a 7-6 victory.
Into the Box Score
- Following the Brown homerun, Suffolk made a pitching change that limited the Mountie offense. The Ram bullpen threw 4.0 scoreless innings, only allowing two Mountie hits and striking out five.
- Mount Aloysius used their deep bench in the game, seeing five players make an appearance off the bench. Three of the late entrants were used as pinch hitters prior to making an appearance, all in left field.
