GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Baseball team traveled to Gettysburg on Saturday, for a doubleheader against the Bullets. They split the doubleheader, ending up in an 11-inning thriller in Game Two.

Tyler Quade (Mechanicsville, Md., Chopticon)Â led the Mounties with four hits on the day and drove in three runs. He also picked up the victory on the mound, in Game Two.

Troy Emert (Rockwood, PA, Rockwood)Â also added four hits and added two RBIs, both of which came in Game Two.
- Game Two starter,
Creek Miller (Lakewood, OH, Lakewood), threw 6.0 strong innings, allowing only one run and scattering eight hits.
How It Happened
Game One
- After holding the Mounties scoreless in the top of the first, Gettysburg used three hits to score three times, jumping ahead early. They added another run in the fourth, after an error allowed a runner on, who came around to score. 4-0 Gettysburg.
- Gettysburg added another run in the third, after a one-out triple. The next better grounded out, moving him across, making the score, 5-0.
- In the top of the fourth, Mount Aloysius came alive, loading the bases with nobody out. The first run came across on a catcher's interference call. The next two runners came across on fielder's choice plays, as the Bullets only got one out. With two runners still on, trailing 5-3, Quade singled to drive in a fourth run.
Jeremy Iellimo (Arnold, PA, Valley Area)Â and
Aidan Bell (Woodbridge, VA, Prince William County)Â each added singles after Quade, driving in two more runs, giving the Mounties a 6-5 lead.
- The game remained 6-5, until the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs and two runners on, Gettysburg hit a three-run homer, to take an 8-6 lead. The Mounties could've avoided the score as the Bullets' first runner reached on an error.
- In the top of the ninth, Mount Aloysius would load the bases, with two outs.
Trap Wentling (Greenville, PA, Greenville)Â earned an RBI when he was hit by a pitch, cutting the lead to one run. However, the final Mountie batter struck out, ending the game, 8-7 Gettysburg.
Game Two
- Mount Aloysius scratched the first run across, in the bottom of the first inning. Quade reached on an error and Iellimo walked. With runners on first and third, and two outs, the Mounties had a double steal attempt, allowing Quade to score. Iellimo was thrown out to end the inning.
- Gettysburg tied the game, in the bottom of the fourth, with a double and a following single.
- In the seventh, the fireworks began. The Mounties started by loading the bases with one out. Quade singled to drive in two runs, making it 3-1. With two outs and two runners in scoring position, Bell his a ball to the shortstop, who committed an error, allowing both runners to score, making the game 5-1. The shortstop made another error, helping the Mounties again put two runners in scoring position. This time, Emert singled, plating both runners and giving the Mounties a 7-1 lead.
- Not to be outdone, the Bullets used six hits and two walks to score six runs of their own, tying the game again, this time at 7-7.
- The Mounties added one run in the top of the eighth, as Iellimo hit a sacrifice fly that drove in
Jackson Kozlovac (Portage, Pa., Portage)Â from third base, giving them an 8-7 lead.
- Gettysburg used a two-out single in the ninth inning, to tie the game again, forcing it to extra innings.
- After a scoreless tenth inning, Mount Aloysius got Iellimo to third base with two outs.
Ryan Bushey (Latrobe, Pa., Derry)Â would end up reaching base on an error by the second basemen, allowing Iellimo to score and giving the Mounties a 9-8 lead.
- The Bullets made the bottom of the 11th interesting, getting two runners on. They both moved into scoring position on a wild pitch with two outs. Quade struck out the final batter looking, sealing the Mountie victory, 9-8.
Into the Box Scores
- Both games saw the winning team be outhit by the losing team. In Game One, the Mounties outhit the Bullets, 11-10. In Game Two, the Bullets had 17 hits compared to only nine for the Mounties.
- The Gettysburg pitching staff registered more strikeouts in each game, as well. 10-5 in Game One and 14-10 in Game Two.

- Mount Aloysius is set to hit the road again, this week, as they travel to Wilson, on Tuesday.
