How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius jumped ahead early and often in the first quarter, scoring 10 straight goals. The frequency was high, as the first seven goals came in the first six minutes, including three goals within a 30 second span. Lanier scored the first, fourth and tenth goals of the dominant run. Figinski,
Jordan Mason (Hagerstown, MD, St. Maria Goretti), and
Maddie Waite (New Oxford, PA, New Oxford), each added two goals and Vought added her lone goal of the game. The Mounties found themselves up 10-0 before giving up a Redhawk goal right before the end of the quarter.
- The Mounties didn't stop in the second quarter, albeit at a slightly slower rate. Figinski scored first in the period, followed by Mason and Lanier. Lanier's goal gave the Mounties a 13-1 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the half.Â
Hanna Geissler (Irwin, Pa., Norwin) got in on the scoring next, before Figinski closed out the half with a goal, making it 15-1 Mounties.
- In the third quarter, Figinski and Lanier scored goals first, extending the Mountie lead to 17-1. After La Roche added two goals to their total, Geissler scored her second goal of the game with just over 30 seconds remaining to send the game to the fourth quarter, 18-3.
- Mount Aloysius outscored the Redhawks once again, in the fourth quarter, with a 4-3 advantage. After the first goal by La Roche, Figinski scored three times to reach her game total of eight goals and Waite added her third goal. The Redhawks added two goals in between the Mountie markers, but it wasn't enough as the Mounties secured the 22-6 victory.
